Can anyone recommend someone to make custom scales for a Benchmade Apparition? I love the knife, but not the plastic imitation horn scales.

Thanks for your help.

I'd enjoy giving it a look. I do mostly wood, but I can also use synthetics.

Firebert does some awesome work! I don't say that from experience, YET, but hope to soon. Take a look at his work and you'll see some great looking handles.

Say Firebert, have you ever worked with micarta, specifically green canvas micarta? Have you ever done handles for a ZT0200? Now put the two together and do you think you could do a ZT0200 in green canvas micarta? Probably with a polished finish.

potterma does awesome work too.

This is the only micarta I've worked with to date:

It's Todd Combs "Blue Glow" burlap micarta and desert ironwood on a paring knife I made. Cool stuff, it glows in the dark.

Now combine it with the ZT 0200 (this one's in pink ivory):

... and pretend it's forest green. Definitely doable.

Great looking pink ivory on the 0200! It looks like you captured the contours of the handle perfectly. I will definately be in touch to see about the green canvas micarta grips. It will probably be a bit, but I will plan on it. In fact I may change my mind and go with some wood..........especially some of that lovely ironwood you have, or maybe some snakewood. Are the woods you work with already stabilized?

Cool. That 0200 makes for a very comfy grip.

I try to use woods that don't require stabilization. Durability will vary by species, but the toughest woods like desert ironwood and cocobolo will take just about anything you can dish out. I like the look and feel of natural wood (lightly oiled), but if a wood requires stabilization to be durable I definitely get it treated.

Greg at Loneridergrips is the guy. Let him know I sent you. He does great work!

Thank you all for your recommendations. I just got back two knives from Firebert. Here's what he did:

I got the finished knives back in a timely manner and Phil stayed in touch.

Firebert does amazing work.
Dobson does too, I'm not sure if that's his name on BF though. He did an amazing Offset and Bump, maybe he will post pics of them here.

Yup, same guy. I just changed my profile again to add to the confusion. Sorry.

Glad to see you got them.
