Anyone can answer to me why AKS Elmax litter more expensive than USAKM ?
Any difference on quality ?
Other place to get Elmax from?

Are you aware that metal prices have increased dramatically?

If one supplier bought it at a lower price the price listed will reflect that.

If they bought it at a higher price the same applies.

No not really following metal price at all.
I just decided that I wanna make my own knife thats why i looking into it,
I owning close to 40 knifes for hunting ,kitchen and fishing.

I just red about chinese elmax any thoughts on that?good? or elmax coming for china?

You should stay away from any kind of expensive steel if you are making your first knife. Practice with something cheap.

1070 (75cr1) / 1084 (80crv2) for carbon steel and AEB-L or 14c28n for stainless steel would be a quality starting point.

Maybe they are precision surface ground ?

Alpha Knife Supply is the best to buy blade steels from. They make sure it is ready to use for the knifemaker. USA Knifemaker also is a top notch outfit. Buying from either of them is a good idea.

All our Elmax has been blanchard ground to remove the outer layer of 304 stainless steel. The 304 SS is a remainder from when the steel was manufactured.

Having steel flat ground adds to the cost.
