Looking for FFG EDC

I'm looking for a knife for every day carry, and was hoping that you guys could help me out with the search. My criteria:

-plain edge
-under 3"
-full flat ground with thin spine
-any locking mechanism, or none at all, as long as it works well
-thin and light

As it happens, the Spyderco Delica 4 with FFG plain edge fits the bill perfectly, albeit at a moderate (though reasonable) price. Are there any cheaper options? I've looked at the Byrd Catbyrd, but it's HEAVY and the locking mechanism can be a pain.

Thanks guys!

Get the Delica. It is worth the few extra dollars.

Ffg delica was the first that came to my mind but you want cheaper.

Opinel has all the things you want and is really cheap.

Normal carbon steel are very cheap but i would recommend a slimline opinel.
Don't know about there sizes but they have a stainless steel blade and some nicer wood. They are even better slicers then the normal opinel but are not capable of any prying.
The blade is very thin.

GEC #73 scout is a good choice, love mine
great steel, quality and price and it looks gorgeous

I do have opinels, but they're a tad chunky for pocket carry. The blade itself is super slim, but the handle/body is another matter.

Those slimlines couldn't be more different. Opinel on a diet? If they were as cheap as the carbon opinels, I'd buy one in a heartbeat. As they are though, I wouldn't mind springing the extra for a delica.

Have you considered a Spyderco Delica? ;)

I can't think of a reason not to go with the Delica. I have an Endura and if I needed to be under 3" on the blade then I wouldn't hesitate to go with a Delica. I too would go with a FFG plain edge model and I would keep it razor sharp.

You can pick up a Spyderco Dragonfly for less than a Delica. It's a little small to be a primary though. Hard to go wrong with a delcia.

I am fairly new to this but got the Endura first but returned it and got the Delica 4 Lightweight and it is just great. You can't go wrong with that one.

FFG delica is a really good option, also if you want to go on the cheap side, i heard there is a second generation of byrds coming, that are FFG,

i believe it is a meadowlark and a cara cara (delica/endura equivalents)

Yeah, the Dragonfly is great knife, but 3" is a bit of a minmum (and legal maximum) when it comes to EDC usefulness. I may snag one up if I can get it cheap, but it most likely wouldn't suit me as an EDC.

A FFG meadowlark? That would be ideal. I'm fine with sharpening more often the cro-moly-vanadium than the Delica's VG-10, if anything it'd just give me more practice. I really hope that it'll come with FRN scales.

They will be more expensive then carbon opinel but are very nicer.
Also better slicers but as only usable for cutting and slicing because the blade is thin.
Also a very nice polished blade.

These are mine.

You take some great photos. Am I right that they flex quite a bit, and are usually marketed as fillet knives?
