I'm looking to buy my first Busse knife and thought I'd get some input from owners of Busse.

Measuring from the top of my wrist to the top of my middle finger, there is a 7 inch span.
I'm curious to read some input on which models you would recommend for me to look into.

Uses would be basic camping/hiking use.
Price range is open, I'll pay for quality.

After reading some threads here, it seems I won't only want one when all is said and done, so I will likely buy another two or eight :D :p
Thank you in advance for leading me into a fun, fact finding journey. Pics to come once I secure my first one!

Run now, before the addiction hits!

Try on a Meaner Streets.
You wont be sorry.

I'm going to remember these pre-Busse days...back when life was simple and I didn't crave more Busse.
But, I feel compelled to try one.

Thank you for the suggestions!
I'm heading out for a quick hike and will check back and start researching these when I return.

You'll find the ratmandu to be a good fit. It's 5" blade is versatile and I've never heard anyone complain about its grip.

Boss Jack and the Warden is a great first Busse!
Let us know what you decide on.
Hi Lisantica!

Another vote for the Boss Jack.

Oh Lisa,

You are headed down a slippery slope!! I'm sure you will love some Custom Shop mammoth tooth Meaner Street, Watch out fellas....if she gets into Busse like her CRK, the Exchange will not be safe for us!!!!!

Hi Lisa and welcome to the madness!! :)

For a smaller utility blade you will really like the Boney Active Duty (BAD) Beautifully made, thin super sharp blade and tough as hell.

For a larger general camp knife I feel that the Skinny ASH is a fantastic mid-size, mid-weight utility knife. The ergonomics of the Skinny ASH handle are brilliant. It is my favorite outdoor carry Busse.

Also remember that either of these are easy to resell if you don't like them.

Let me also say in conclusion that there are some great Busse enthusiast resellers here on the forum, I really suggest that you stick to buying from well known BF/Busse folks. Some of the "other" vendors leave a lot to be desired.

Have fun and post your pics when you have decided........

Cheers

Steven

Since you said "basic", the Basic 4 has a lot going for it. Offered in an anorexic (thinner blade) and magnum version. Comfortable Res-C handle and satin INFI. Not too big for hiking and not too small for a lot of simple camp chores. Some are on the fence about the talon hole, but that's why I am listing a couple knives to consider, everyone has slightly differing needs/wants/likes.
If you go the Kin route, I love me some Swamp Rat RatManDu, and the smallish handle on the Scrap Yard 511 may be appealing.
The Boss Jack also has a smallish feeling handle and is a good size for the camping basics.
Scrap Yard War Dog has a lot going for it as well.
