Have some Spyderco's, Benchmades and Kershaws but no SOGs.. So I'm looking for some advice on a few nice simple folders for EDC. I don't need anything fancy or super expensive (less than $100) but want something smooth, strong and will last. I see lots on the Flash, Trident and Twitch Series.

Thanks,
Hawk

For assisted openers IMO you can't be the flash 1 and 2. If you're a bigger guy you may like the trident but I find that the handle shape of the flash works better as a EDC knife for me.

For a solid standard opener check out the vulcan series.

I like the Twitch II, Twitch XL, and Mini-Vulcan folders. The new Access Card 2.0 is a very cool little knife for EDC. You almost have to handle one to appreciate it. The 2.0 has been around approaching a year now. I finally purchased one a few months back after handling one or two at the 2008 Blade Show.

my first SOG was a flash 1 but then i bought a SOG X ray vision mini...AWESOME edc knife it would be a great first knife!

I've got a Visionary 1 - not a hint of bladeplay, the ARC lock, very cool looking and the sharpest knife out of the box I've ever cut myself twice with:). Right around $100 too.

I've been carrying and using the SOG Fusion Salute for almost a month now EDC, and am amazed at how solid and well made this knife is for $29.95.

My vote goes to the SOG Trident folder. I have two, a Tanto (black TiNi) and a tigerstripe bowie. My Tanto has some blade play but my bowie has none and both fire equally fast.

I have the Trident, the flash I, the flash II and the new Aegis. I find myself reaching for the aegis a lot the FFG makes it a really nice slicer for edc. Not the mention they are still on the cheap side.

just my $.02

I have a trident tigerstripe that ive been working hard for a long time. Probably close to two or three years as my EDC. It's done everything and still comes back for more. very slight play in the blade, and the spring isnt quite what it used to be...

I recently decided I wanted a new knife for carry when I'm not going to be using it. more of a defense kind of thing for when I can't carry a pistol. I selected the sog trident with the tanto, non serrated blade. This knife isn't going to be used for much beyond riding in the pocket.
