Hello everyone. I am looking for a fixed blade with a kydex (or other type of hard sheath) to be my new concealed carry blade.
All of my fixed blades are too large for every day carry and I am really wanting to switch from folders to fixed for EDC. I live in Colorado so the blade has to be 3.5 inches or less. I am not too particular when it come to brand so all suggestions are open. I am also not looking for a custom blade that would make me cringe when thumped upon. It has to be something that I can carry everyday. Again all suggestions are open.

Thanks in advance for all of the replies.

There are many knives that size, what design do you want - more for sd or more for utility? Wide or narrow blade? Heavy duty or lightweieght sticker/slicer? Tanto, clip point, wharncliffe blade shape? Handle material? Blade steel? Price? Those will narrow down the options.

Needs to be proficient in both areas, self defense and utility. As for steel, i have yet to find a favorite, i tend to lean away from high carbon and other steels that are not rust resistant. I am not picky when it comes to handle material. I prefer drop point blade shapes but am more than willing to carry a blade with a different shape.

I'll second the Street Beat. It has a great blade shape for edc and a solid grip for self defense. Vg-10 ain't too shabby either.

Brous Blades Ranger. It's something out of the ordinary and there's six plus different grips you can use with it. I wear mine at or in waistband and the D2 steel hasn't shown any rust. It's a really sturdy little blade that is really comfortable in the hand.

Another option would be to check A G Russell's site for some of the Dozier FBs. He sells a couple of Doziers that come with horizontal kydex sheaths. He also has a nice little horizontal FB from Keith Murr called the Small Companion that comes in a reversible horizontal kydex sheath. Could double as a neck knife & sheath as well.

Life is too short to carry a factory made fixed blade. Check the Maker's Market here and be amazed at what's out there.
