Looking for fixed blade

I'm looking for a fixed blade for general light household use. Here's the specs I want:

--blade: 2"-2 1/2"

--handle: 3 3/4"-4"

--blade steel: open

--here's the kicker: blade has to be narrow. I'll be doing some small work with this. So I'd rather not do the Izula or any of the Beckers.

--price: under $100. Given what I'm using it for, this doesn't have to be one of my pricier knives.

Any suggestions?

The BK 14 is not bad, but a bit wide. Checked out the Boker Plus line. Some very nice knives but the handles are too small. The Rambler is too wide.

The problem is I want a normal sized handle with a short blade, which is rare.

Any thoughts on the Condor Bushcrat 2"?

A.G. Russel Knives Woodwalker.

It costs about $20, has a 2 and 3/8 inch blade, 3 and 3/4 inch handle, and has a good reputation.

It weighs 1.2 oz, and is made in Japan. It uses AUS-8 steel, which is not the best but fair.

I have a Condor Mini Bushlore that I really like, the spine is as thick as a BK14 but it's a scandi grind and cuts like crazy. Fits in the front pocket nicely.

Very seriously considering it; it was a very good suggestion.

I'm thinking of the Woodwalker for more detailed work, and either the Bushlore or a Beacker 14 for opening boxes.

But stll open to other ideas.

If it is for light general use, why does it have to be a fixed blade? Whats wrong with a folder? I am puzzled.

(not my photo)

I've always liked the looks of the Moki Banff. 6 1/8" overall with a 2 5/16" VG10 blade and can be had under $100. Not sure the blade thickness, but it looks to be finely suited for detail work. Never owned one myself, but have had a couple of their folders and their reputation of impeccability held true in my experience.

Quillan--Just for something different. I have plenty of folders.

Klineh--That is a beautiful knife. moving up my list.

This is the Schrade 156OT Little Finger, still very available on that auction site for well under your top dollar.

I'm more of a folder guy but the Anza brand has caught my eye. Their blades are made from files (annealed, cold ground and polished) and the handles are stabilized wood that kind of have a tribal look to 'em--very cool-lookin', imo. There are several models that meet the OP's specs/budget. While I do not own one and cannot attest to their quality, I might just pick one up to try at some point.

Good luck, OP! :)

That Schrade also caught my eye. They made great knives. The trick is getting one of the originals, not the new China ones.

Thanks.

So I put my money where my mouth is and ordered a couple o' Anza knives. I was not disappointed when they arrived this afternoon!
