Thanks guys for the kind words, they are appreciated.
Our Scouting group started their "summer recess" and we'll be having our summer scout camp week in August.
I'm off on holiday July 19 and if there's enough interest I might be able to get some Glowrings ordered and send out before that date.
However we're still short of the minimum order size so we'll have to see.
An update on the guarantee that Traser has on the new model Glowrings since the last batch that we received!!!!
They put on the inside of the folded and stapled printed paper that covers the plastic bag holding the Glowring the following message:
"IMPORTANT INFORMATION Glowrings
The Glow in this product is created by a pressurised laser sealed GLASS tube called a traser. This highly advanced lighting technology is designed to glow for 10 years.
Traser (UK) Limited DO NOT guarantee the glass components of this product which may break if subjected to vibration, shock or misuse.
If this occurs the traser light inside the acrylic casing will stop working and the glow will no longer be visible.
All other parts are covered against defects in manufacture
This information does not affect your statutory rights"
Guys, in short I (we) are a little p.ssed off because they suddenly just printed this on the inside of the paper.
We have normally replaced broken Glowrings when we got send back the broken and then send the broken ones to Traser for replacement.
This cost us more then the small profit we made on the Glowrings but thats what we feel is right as Scouts.
Now Traser suddenly introduced this "limitation" and we're thinking about not getting any glowrings anymore.
Since the introduction of the new type Glowring I (we) were having an increased number of broken glowrings which we dealt with in our Scouting way but now we don't get broken ones replaced anymore and that ... yep again makes us angry.
Personally I love the new model Glowring but I already send an email to Roger Green of Traser telling him that the 1/16" free movement of the traser glowtube inside the keychain was not a good idea as this could cause fractures when the keychain is subjected to falls to the ground etc.
We even had a breakage of one Glowring as it arrived from Traser
The old model glowrings had the tube fixed with a small drop of silicon glue and we only had a few breakages then.
I will keep you posted on what Traser has to say.
Best Scouting wishes from Holland,
