Hello, this is my first post here on BF. I just regestered today after lurking for a while now. Anyways I was wondering if there was any way for me to get a glowring or two? I live in the US and I know that they can no longer ship it to here but is there someone who already has them here that I can possibly purchase from? thanks.

I bought some from Bagheera a while ago, he is great to do business with. He kept me informed of the progress of my order, and I got delivery quickly considering the distance they came. If you want some glowrings he is your man.

You would be hard pressed to find someone better the Bagheera. Simply one of the best on the 'net. Don't let the foreign connection stop you. Payment and delivery were hassle free for my transactions and, very fast too (faster then a lot of my transactions in the USA).

where does Bagheera live? I sent him an email so Ill see how it goes. thanks

Thanks guys for the kind words, they are appreciated.

Our Scouting group started their "summer recess" and we'll be having our summer scout camp week in August.

I'm off on holiday July 19 and if there's enough interest I might be able to get some Glowrings ordered and send out before that date.
However we're still short of the minimum order size so we'll have to see.

An update on the guarantee that Traser has on the new model Glowrings since the last batch that we received!!!!

They put on the inside of the folded and stapled printed paper that covers the plastic bag holding the Glowring the following message:

"IMPORTANT INFORMATION Glowrings

The Glow in this product is created by a pressurised laser sealed GLASS tube called a traser. This highly advanced lighting technology is designed to glow for 10 years.
Traser (UK) Limited DO NOT guarantee the glass components of this product which may break if subjected to vibration, shock or misuse.
If this occurs the traser light inside the acrylic casing will stop working and the glow will no longer be visible.

All other parts are covered against defects in manufacture

This information does not affect your statutory rights"

Guys, in short I (we) are a little p.ssed off because they suddenly just printed this on the inside of the paper.

We have normally replaced broken Glowrings when we got send back the broken and then send the broken ones to Traser for replacement.
This cost us more then the small profit we made on the Glowrings but thats what we feel is right as Scouts.

Now Traser suddenly introduced this "limitation" and we're thinking about not getting any glowrings anymore.

Since the introduction of the new type Glowring I (we) were having an increased number of broken glowrings which we dealt with in our Scouting way but now we don't get broken ones replaced anymore and that ... yep again makes us angry.

Personally I love the new model Glowring but I already send an email to Roger Green of Traser telling him that the 1/16" free movement of the traser glowtube inside the keychain was not a good idea as this could cause fractures when the keychain is subjected to falls to the ground etc.
We even had a breakage of one Glowring as it arrived from Traser :(

The old model glowrings had the tube fixed with a small drop of silicon glue and we only had a few breakages then.

I will keep you posted on what Traser has to say.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera

I'm real sorry to hear that Piet! I will agree that the new ones are very poorly engineered, especially in contrast with the older ones.

Piet is definitely the man! I didn't want to give him as a source without his approval, as I hadn't seen him doing an order lately. I meant to email him after I made my post and plain forgot.

If he continues to do business with Traser then he is definitely the man to do business with.

The disclaimer in the Traser packaging is worrysome. This reminds me of a UK DVD company that put out a few bad-batches of DVDs and replaced them. However, when the complaints and scope of the issue was greater than they expected they posted a note alluding to that there DVDs were pressed to industry specs and if it didn't work it was because of your DVD Player.

This is very poor customer service and just shows at what lengths companies will do to protect themselves.

But, I'll close with that I think Piet is a great person!

i don't know if this is the correct thread for this but i would definitely be interested in at least 2 glowrings.

Hi Pete,

I tried sending you an email but it bounced twice! please drop me an email at my e-mailaddress and I'll send you one back.

It makes sense now...
Thanks for the explaination!

I ordered 50 (ten of each colour) and some came with the printed label and some came blank. So after checking, the majority of the ones I have left are the new rattling type with warning label.

I found that you can separate the 2 halves of the new style case, then add a drop of clear silicone caulk at each end to seal them up - use a very tiny amount though! Seemed to stop the rattling.

Greeeeeaaat...

I just pulled out the two I have left--didn't even realize there were two different types. It's pretty obvious now, though. I didn't get any for myself, I'd just been giving them as gifts--have gone through 7 of them already.

Traser (UK) Limited DO NOT guarantee the glass components of this product which may break if subjected to vibration, shock or misuse.
So they basically cover the metal split ring? What a bunch 'o losers...:barf:

On the other hand, I do have to say that I like the looks of the newer one better--but not if it means that the damn thing isn't going to last as long.

Ten minutes ago I didn't know they existed, now I have to have a few. If source can be found, count me in for at least two or three.

Looks like the same type of technology as what's used in night sights like Trijicon and Meprolight.

Cool Stuff.

Phil @ 2TheHilt had some at the Blade Show, I forgot to pick some up from him.

Extremely cool item.

Phil's a great guy to deal with--that's where I got mine from. You'll probably want to email him to see what he has left (if any), though.

ps...I have been having trouble with his site for the past two days but you can email him at info@2thehilt.com (Phil--hope you don't mind me posting your address).

Hi,

If Phil doesn't have them anymore drop me (us) an email as our Scouting group is ordering some next week and can add extra's to our order.

Best Scouting wishes from Holland,

Bagheera
