I'm looking for a good hawk, less than a hundred bucks ideally, can be custom work or not doesn't matter to me. I was hoping you guys could give me some companies or people that make good hawks for lower money?
Thanks for any replies.

Check out Fort Turner just Google the name, Dana Turner Is the Best In the Biz and the price's are right,

I'm actually looking to buy a hawk in the same price range as well. The Fort Turner ones seem nice, and are very reasonably priced, but I like the riflemans style, which they don't seem to make. Any suggestions?

I did a little searching through the forum and found you something real close to the Riflemans Hawk, This one Is made by Coal Creek Forge and you can find him right here on this forum, Contact him and maybe he can make you one,

These picture's belong to Mr. Sogetsu,

Check out the Cold Steel hawks. They generally run from $25-$45 according to style. They are very good hawks if you are not looking for a custom hawk. They are the basic hawk more people use if they are going to modify it to become personalized than any other hawk. They have the rifleman, trail hawk, pipe hawk, Norse hawk, frontier hawk, spike hawk, and Vietnam tomahawk.

Most don't make their own haft. They modify the original haft by staining, grooving, wrapping, adding tacks, or any of a number of other ways. Start with one of those until you gain some experience. There is a huge thread on moding the CS trail hawk and one on hawk and knife combo where you can get lots of ideas.

Man those pictures suck :). The only thing it doesn't like chopping is glass(most steel doesn't lol), but it mostly rolled it a bit. I'm not sure if Mr. Liley is doing Jackhammer bit tomahawks anymore, but give him a call. I definitely want another CCF tomahawk sometime when the funds allow.

Here's a real nice Hammer Poll that was just listed In the Knifemakers classifieds section by Kentucky, I'm sure he could make you one just like It, Check this Beauty out, http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...ed-Hammer-poll-Tomahawk?p=9809005#post9809005

Kentuckys Hawk's dont last long on the Market this one sold In 38 Minute's,

Deff consider Fort Turner Hawks, Dana does great work at very reasonable prices. He will also do custom work so just drop him a note he might be able to do more of a riflemans pattern for ya for not alot or extra money. Obligatory FT hawk pic

I must replace a haft with a new tomahawk because any haft less than 20" long doesn't feel right to me.

I used to carve them out of sledgehammer handles, but ever since Cold Steel has been selling 22" replacement hafts, I use them instead.

Got to have a minimum of 20", but 21"-23" depending on how it balances out, is perfect to me.

Coal creek forge all the way.
