don't know if there's a better place for this question, but I'll try it here. My son & I are just getting into forging & we'd like to find some places to go to see how it's done by guys like you all who know what you're doing. Are there any hammer-ins or demo's coming up in '06 in the Pittsburgh-Cleveland-Buffalo area?

Thanks for any help- this is a great forum- we've learned a lot already!!

I am sure NECKA will be having some up at Indian George's place this summer....well worth the drive! I went to the last one last year and it was my first and I loved it! IG should have some details.....

We should do a winter one...anyone have a huge indoor shop?

Good idea! I sure hope it does. My GF doesnt think I am serious when I say I want enough room to have a full finished basement shop shop plus walk-out forge outside....

These things sound great. I am suddenly wishing I had taken that job up north.

Pics from last fall:

The last two are the cable damascus billet i forged (first damascus!) and the resulting knife that I made with it for the scavenger KITH...fantastic time!

Listen, you should come up for the weekend of the HI, you could put up a tent in the backyard or stay at a motel. We have motels within a 5 minute drive from my house.:D

I wish. But it ain't gonna happen this year. If I want to see this done I gotta find something closer to home and someone who is willing to teach me in exchange for grunt work around the shop. I would love to though.

Bruce-

thanx- we live in Erie County, & there's nothing around local that we've found yet. Mass. & Maryland are a little far, but Pittsburgh's only a couple hours, & we've got folks there to stay with if it's worth an overnite. Let us know when you see something coming up so we can plan on it.

Is there a board or anything where meets & HI's are posted that we could check?

thanx agin-
rand

Hamza (pakoraman) has created a new website, www.knifehow.com , where tutorials and links to all sort of knife related topics can be found. All in one place. We have added a hammer-in section, and as the info becomes available,we hope to list them there. If anyone knows of a hammer-in or good tutorial or link, just post it in the submission area. The moderators will move the info to the right place. This is destined to be a great site.

Southern Drawl, by the way, is the prettiest of all the English Accents. Especially when our lovely ladies use it.
