I need a handle with 2 3/4 x 7/8 eye. Anyone know of a supplier that sells them? have a call in to house handles( playing phone tag) called tennessee hickory, and gransfors bruks, no luck. The handle is for an old swedish head 4 3/4# Thanks for any help.

Many European heads have larger eyes in order to account for local beech/birch/ash handles instead of tougher n. American hickory. Likely you're going to have to seek out European handle makers. Or you could try carving your own!

Lee Valley (dotcom) sells 30" replacement handles that would fit a big eye. For their "Iltis splitting axe". Ash, and not cheap.

I'm not so sure the double bit handles for Iltis products are large eye, nor made of ash but the others are fair game. The double bits seem to be more popular for throwing contests than for actual use. Hopefully they do list their eye sizes.

I seriously think that one of the big handle makers needs to offer handles without the tongue turned down. Just leave it a big ol' rectangle so folks can fit odd sized eyes to it.

House's drift pick handle might have enough meat to do the job. It's designed for a double bit but wider and longer.
