Hi all,

I'm looking for help sorting through the thousands of knives out there to find one that suits my needs. I hope that with the forums combined experience and knowledge I can get some suggestions.

Firstly, the purpose of this knife will be for EDC carry at work. I already have a ZT 0550 that is my go to knife for home and the weekends. For work however, I need something less bulky. I am an IT Manager/Network Admin in a corporate environment. I'm in a shirt and tie every day, and something big and very visible would be out of place. My preferred means of carry is inside the waistband with the clip under my belt.

Here is what I'm looking for:

Stonewashed drop point blade, no serrations, preferably S30V or similar.
Thin profile because of how it is being carried
Deep carry pocket clip (or one easily available in aftermarket), also important because of how it is being carried.
Blade length 3.25" to 3.75"
Sub $200, less than $125 would be great.
Not picky about locking mechanism as long as it is reliable and durable. Framelock is what I'm used to.

I've been looking at the Kershaw Knockout, but after seeing a thread on here about some build issues with it I'm a little hesitant. Besides that I can't find anywhere that actually has one in stock.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the replies guys. I think the Buck is closer to my specifications than the Spyderco, but I definitely like the look of the Sage better. Does anyone know if there is a deep carry clip for the Sage 2? [EDIT] Just looked closer at the Sage 2 pocket clip, looks deep enough to suit my purposes.

Any other suggestions to add to the pool?

If you like the Sage2 I'd Suggest you check out the Sage1. Same size and better looking for your environment. I have one and it is a great knife. Opens and closes very smoothly. I've done the exact same work you described and the Sage1 would be perfect. If you wanted something a little smaller the Spyderco Chaparral is also a great knife. It has. Carbon figer scales and looks like a small sage1. I have and love it also. They are very classy knives, both with S30V blades. If a little extra weight is ok I got a Sage4 about a month ago and it is a TOUGH Sage1. Very strong lock spring. It also looks classy with Arizona ironwood scales and titanium bolsters. Same size and shape as all the Sages. Save4 has a backlock.

Good luck with your decision. Like you said there are.many great choices.

I agree with the Sage 1. It is a great looking knife although it is a liner lock also usually $50 cheaper than the Sage 2, a frame lock. Perhaps a Mcusta Katana, those look pretty good as well.

Wow thanks. I had never heard of Mcusta before but they have some beautiful knives! There are several there that suit my purposes perfectly, now I just have to decide which one I'm getting first.

Thanks!

Viper89: Thanks again. I think I've settled on what I want.. going for the MCUSTA MC16-D:

3.25" VG-10 Damascus blade
Quincewood handle
Deep Carry pocket clip
~$150 or so online

Perfect for the lite duty it would see with me at work in the office, should fit very nicely inside the waistband, and has the added benefit of looking very classy and not at all "scary" like my ZT 350 or 550. Don't want to scare the receptionist :)

Can't wait to get it :D
