Looking for help on info about a knife?

Hello! I've recently purchased my boyfriend a knife for a gift. He's a big history buff, so I got a Henry Sears & Sons vintage knife. The knife's tangs say Henry Sears & Sons 1865, however i am aware that means it could be from an array or years. The handle is made of jigged bone. Anyone who knows more about these types of knives, please comment or send me a message, i can give pictures of it if requested. Thank you!
