Hello everyone, first thread here. I am not a knife enthusiast per se, but I have always had a few decent knives, and surely enjoy using a quality knife.

I had a Benchmade 732 Ares that was either lost or stolen from me (most likely stolen) ~3 years ago and I would like to replace it with an equivalent Benchmade. I am still looking for a good condition 732, but in lue of that I would like to find a current Benchmade that is similar. It seems over the past few years they have cheapened their handle design a little bit. For instance the Griptilian (551SBKODD2) looks similar (despite having D2 steel), but the grip looks lighter/cheaper.

So I am looking for currently made Benchmades similar to the 732. I do not mind going a slightly shorter blade, but I dont want a molded handle, I enjoyed the heft of that knife. I also want a similarly designed blade.

Any and all advise is appreciated. I am trying to get re-acclimated with their product line. Thanks.

The closest I can think of would be 913 Nitrous Stryker.

The 710 is a great knife. Ive edcd it for a long time and it is still holding up great. I think you would like it as well. I just recently got mine reprofiled by Tom Krein. He does great work:)

There is one of the pre-production Ares listed at Jay's Knives.

Its about half way down the page.

They have one there now, but it is a special edition and pricey.

I also see BM 705 and 710 on there often.

I EDC a 705 and love it, others prefer the 710

Good luck.

I have an Ares, 710, and Rift. While the Ares is my favorite, I think that the Rift would make a nice replacement.

I believe that Rx had it right when he stated that the Nitrous Stryker with the spear point blade is the closest in dimensions, but it does not have an Axis lock. I'm all for the Axis lock so I say go for the Rift.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I am going to keep my eyes out for a used Ares, 710 or Rift.

Like many said I think the Rift is most like the Ares, but the 710 is too much of a looker to pass up! I might want one more than the Ares I sought out to replace :D

look at the HK 14205. It is very similar to the Ares in size. It is made by benchmade and is one of the best they make. they can be found for around $100-$130 NIB.

I have a 735BT and my 615 is the closest to it, except to me it's slightly improved minus the clip. Get one while you can I think they're discontinued.

Are you still looking for a Benchmade Ares 732? I have one I would sell.
