I've been eyeing the Mojo, but was told on the general forum that they have been discontinued.
(1) can anyone offer suggestions where to get it?
(2) is it only a fighter? would it be suitable in a role as a fighter cum camp cum utility blade?
(3) how much is reasonable for the Mojo?
(4) can the micarta scales be ground down as I do not have large hands and would prefer slightly smaller handles?
(5) is the edge scary sharp?
thanks all!:D

Spyken,
Welcome to the Busse Forum, glad you stopped in. :D

1) Yes, the Mojo has been discontinued, however, you might want to contact the shop. customerservice@bussecombat.com
Maybe they have one hiding somewhere around there. :):D Other options are to keep your eyes on the For Sale boards and Ebay

2) No its not only a fighter, it will work well in a multitude of enviroments and roles. However, it was designed as a fighter and is therefore lighter(in weight, not strength) than some of the other Busses

3) I've seen Mojo's going for between $325-$400 depending on the use, and sheaths that it has. The more sheaths the more money. :D

4)You can grind the Micarta down, but you will most likely need to remove them to do it properly and I think they will be damaged during removal. My hands are not large, and the Mojo fits me well. This may not be neccessary, I'd wait until you get it to determine how it fits you.

5)Yes :D:D

thanks eric. will check ebay and keep my eyes peeled on this forum. am I correct to assume that busse(s) do not come with sheaths?

after looking at your link, I have to ask - what about the bolo? how much, what is the primary purpose, where to get it? again thanks...

The Busse Factory sheath is a very good one, Cordura Sheath with a Kydex lining. Depending on the knife you are interested in some also have an optional Kydex sheath that you can also order. I believe that the standard sheath with the Mojo was kydex.

The AfterShock Bolo was a limited run and is also no longer in production. Once again you may want to contact the shop at the above email address or contact Marc the Busse custom shop director at marc@bussecombat.com he may be able to help you with a custom/variant that fits your needs.

absolutely not for sale at any price---have turned down $600 for it---the number says it all---just in case I need to 86 something.........

it is my dream knife, the perfect blade for me---have a Satin Jack, an Aftershock #83 (a gift for my son who was born in 1983), a Badger, and an Assault Shaker as well, and have handled every knife ever a production model and many of the variants and find I like the Mojo best---mine is an L.E. so it is polished as opposed to combat grade finished, but the lack of finish in no way detracts from performance.

P.S. the factory edge is so sharp that it less shaves than scares the hairs away..........

Spyken,
Welcome to the Busse forum.
I would also check with Bladeart on the Mojo. They might have one.
Good luck in your search.

Mojo-schmojo; Busse knives rock and you will be well served by whatever choice you make. The current production models cover the range of anticipated uses and the varienats and customs cover the rest. Warning, once you start with INFI, it's hard to quit!

Good luck in your quest spyken! Let us know when you track one down, you won't be dissapointed with it.
I also have large, fat hands and the handle feels great. I doubt you will have to do any mods when you get one:D

Maybe post in the wanted forum also, you never know when someone might be willing to let one go:cool:

welcome Spyken.

I noticed you are in Singapore, I may be wrong, but I was under the impression that if you are outside of North America you can order from Busse Europe and they still had the Mojo and the Bolo Aftershock available.

Gundy, weren't you able to get a Mojo CG this way?

utmts4me,
how do I contact Busse Europe? do you have a weblink? am quite interested in either mojo, bolo or battle mistress but am always worried about shipping costs....
thanks,
spyken

Here's the link to Busse combat Deutschland http://www.busse-messer.de./ and I do see the Mojo on the site but I can't read what it says about it and if it is forsure still offered :D Good luck. Like I said I think gundy went that route for his Mojo and he might be able to help and maybe answer the shipping cost question.

Utah Mountains,

I posted a MOJO wanted add on the exchange and a concerning overseas friend came to my aid. I picked up my mint CG with 2 sheaths for $400.

Without a doubt the best knife I own. If Busse was to make a knife to my exact requirements (if I had of thought of it first), the MOJO would be it.....so......GET ONE!

I would post a WANTED on the exchange forum.

By the way, I had all intentions of using this knife but just can not do it. get it dirty!? No way man...

Now wheres that troublesome Skunk at...

Gundy,
I thought I read somewhere on this forum that if you lived outside of North America you could order from Busse Europe or Germany or whatever and I just thought you had tested that out. My Bad. Knives wanted huh, good idea!

Oh yeah, and the Skunk went that-a-way

Australia can buy from Busse Germany so I am told.
Have not tried as yet.

too many to buy from the states yet!
:D

help, don't understand the germanic language! what's the difference between the LE and CG in terms of finishes and/or edges? does the LE have the assymetrical edge as well? do you know what angle the edges are sharpened at? thanks!:)

Spyken,
The CG has the black crinkle finish and canvas micarta
handles with the asymetrical edge. The LE has a satin finish with black paper micarta handles and a zero edge. At least this is the
American version.;) I can't read German either.

Chip, I can't read German but after visiting the Busse German site over and over and over.....I am starting to understand it!

Then again, pictures are worth a thousand words.

I hope you find the grail spyken. You will not be dissapointed.

what's the difference:
(1) between canvas and paper micarta;
(2) in the cutting ability between assymetrical and zero tolerance edges?
thanks to everyone so far!

Canvas micarta is grippier and a little more durable, but doesn't look as nice (to most ;) ) as paper micarta.

The zero edge is double-convex ground and finer than the assymetrical edge, which is one side convex-ground, the other flat-ground. The zero edge is a better cutter, slicer etc., and would penetrate better when chopping, but is less durable than the assymetrical edge.

Good luck in your quest :D !
