I recently acquired this model 121 Fisherman from an online retailer. I read the dating chart, and I believe I understand this to be a 1972-1986(?) as it has 3 lines, inverted. I've heard there may be ways to narrow it down, to a trained eye. I would like for you all to put your trained eyes on it, and tell me what you think. Also, if i bought a fake I want to know. I don't believe it to be, but I'm no expert. Thanks, all!20230413_175515.jpg20230413_175716.jpg20230413_175742.jpg

That one should be right around circa 1971 with three lines but inverted. That is a fine knife - fillet a nice fish with it and you will see what I mean. OH
Thank you! I do plan to use it some, but also try to keep it in good condition. Do you happen to know, or have a rough guess what type of steel my blade is?

That era was 440C stainless steel. I have the same knife (same tang stamp), using it on fish won’t hurt it a bit. I use mine and it looks new (except I have no box). OH

Off topic question for anyone who knows:
I've noticed that there isn't any "wanted" section in the Buck classifieds. Is it against the rules to mention knives that we're searching for?

Roger that, Roger. And thanks. Don't want to offend the powers that be, I'm grateful for this forum.

Here is a wishlist for you. Every knife you’ll ever need to do anything outdoors in North America.
This poster is awesome! All of these are on my list. A lot of them have been checked off. Of course, the 117 didn't exist when this was printed. I'm debating on whether to add the 124 to my list, but the rivets in the handles throw me off. I'll probably get one anyway, just based on its own merits. And the 122 Nemo, which I will probably just be content to live without because they're outside my budget. Are there any others?

Yep the 117 and 212 are must have knives that aren’t pictured. At one time I printed that picture out and checked them off as I got them. Lol.

The 124 is in a class by itself, it really is an epic blade. Don’t let the rivets stop you.

For me the hatchet with the 100 series handle was an unobtainable Holy Grail piece. But I got lucky and got one.

It came with a couple free knives too!

That curved handled one is a really nice one too. It is the 107 Scout, it was also part of the Empress trio kitchen set.

If I were just starting out, I’d get the Pro series knives first.

The 102,103,105,117,119&120. Then either fill in the gaps with Black phenolic models or wait for more pros to be released.

This is what I remember and what I want to copy. I don't know why, it really doesn't make sense. I have the 102, 105, 118, and the 124. My shipping notice show the 117 and 103 coming today. When I have the 119 and 120 I will pretty much consider myself done. I have 2 or 3 119's but not with the phenolic handle.
