I'm buying a Case knife I found on another forum  and would like a bit of info if anyone has any.

It's is labeled as a Case XX knife, but was made by Boker. The seller says it has a date code of 2001 and a pattern code of 506. It is an integral (my favorite) and is gorgeous (to me anyway). I can't seem to find any online information for this Boker/Case collaboration. The knife profile looks identical to the Boker BO585HH, only with Case logos and a Thuya Wood handle.

Thanks for any info.

Shawn

I've never seen one of those before. My gut says "fake/ unauthorized use of trademark". I could be wrong on this, but it just doesn't seem to me like something Case would do. Case is all about American production. The sheath looks like the ones Case uses for its leather-handled fixed blades. What does the paperwork shown in the photo say?

"Case Germany, Solingen Germany"? I don't know man, I would stay away from it. The only thing I've seen similar to that is something from the Magnum line. Take a look at the Magnum website. I think that the Case aspect is a little bit suspect ;).

The paperwork is just generic Case info. You can take a look at the papers here.

IIRC there was a time when a few knives were made in Germany for Case. Some Boker knives being made in Germany , I guess it wouldn't be impossible.

I have never seen that knife before, but there are a lot of things I haven't seen :D

somethings fishy... Case contracted and still does contract... domestic companies and when parker owned them well most of us have heard the stories, hmm dunno man, nice looking knife but if its not authorized by case then its a fake and that aint cool... Personally i'd pass unless case could authenticate it
You can contact Case on facebook, i did and got a response same day:thumbup: havent had much luck contacting their regular email
best of luck

looks nice but I'm not sold on it being real to be honest. it looks nice but not having any info online to be found is generaly not a great sign, if it was really rare you'd pay the price for it. Hard to say though.

That's authentic.

In the early 2000's Case contracted Boker to make some folders, fixed blades and straight razors. These were all very limited in production and quite hard to find now.

This would represent the fourth time in Case's history that they had knives marked with the CASE brand name made in Solingen.

That does look like one of Boker's integral knives-

But I cannot find anything about this particular knife, or about "Case's German Line" as described on the paperwork. It could be my Google-fu is just weak. I don't recall ever hearing about any Case knives being made offshore since the 90's, when Parker was in control. That is a very expensive knife to be making a fake from, if it's the actual Boker, those things run over $300. If it really is a fake, it's probably not from Boker either.

Edit: Steve has spoken, I stand corrected! Interesting knife!

well i had already sent case a message on their facebook...
Ive never heard of this, then again i'm still green:)
So what are the other 3 times???

I just received a reply from Case:

Hi Shawn,

This is a genuine Case knife. We produced these knives in 2001. Attached is an article that was published in our Club’s quarterly magazine, The Case Collector.

I hope this information helps!

Yes, Case has had some knives made in Germany. A frequent poster here has (or had) some German-made folders on his site.

Back on topic, it's a beautiful knife! Wish it was mine. The Boker integral knives are some of their more expensive models.

Very cool! You learn a little somethin' every day. I wouldn't mind having one of those folding hunters!

And the knife in the OP, hubba hubba! Those Boker integrals are $$$. I apologize for casting doubt on its authenticity, it just seemed like (and is!) something atypical for Case. I've never seen ANY of the knives from that line.

I saw this knife and a few other Boker patterns at an NKCA show a few (about 10ish) years back. I bought three of the folders (sorry I don't recall the pattern numbers) and held on to them for a couple years till another collector got them from me. All had the same handle material. I picked them up because they were different and seemed to be VERY high quality. I have always wanted to replace them but couldn't find them again. The steel was a great polish, the craftsmanship was dead on, no gaps and the materials in general were worth the price at that time in my opinion. ( I seem to recall them being about $125 each) Don't know if that helps any but I hope so. I will keep looking for my replacements, I liked the folding hunter best. Good luck and God Bless
