Looking for info on Buck model 107 knife set

I'm looking for any information anyone might have on a set of knives I recently aquired. They are a set of six Buck model 107's with an oak countertop holder (looks like a steak knife set). There's no markings on the oak holder, so it may or may not have come with the knives. The knives all have black macarta handles with three pins. I would be interested in finding out their age and approximate value.

Thanks,
Joe

yes,,,,need pics,,,,EEE, didn't that steak knive set come in a wood holder, similar to the Empress Trio set?

The Empress Trio set that has the 107 in it, is black linen micarta. Least mine is.

Yes,,Welcome to the Buck Forum Joe!!

Didn't find it on a quick search...So if that holder doesn't say Buck on it, is probably something someone has put together and rounded up a set of 107'

I might have been thinking of the birchwood 4 piece set of steak knives that have the serrated tips.

Thanks for the responses guys. Here are links to photos I took this afternoon. I'm not the greatest with the pictures, so if you need closer or bigger, just let me know. The slots in the wooden block appear to be a little large for these knives, so I agree that this is probably something someone put together. The condition of the knives varies from pretty nice to not so nice. One looks like it hasn't been sharpened, but the others definately have been. The best one has a couple of dark spots on the blade not a whole lot bigger than a pin point. Three others have some spots a little larger, but don't appear to be pitted. Another has spotting and tiny amount of shallow pitting around the point of the blade. The worst one is shown in the fourth picture and it looks like someone tried to saw a brick with it. It's pitted quite a bit along the edge of the blade. They were probalby put away without being cleaned properly. The spotting on the best 4 could probably be removed with a good polishing.

Thanks again, Joe

EEE had it right, Not a buck block. Someone has put together a neat set tho.

You might consider sending them to Joe Houser and seeing if Buck can clean them up for you. I am sure you would be very surprised at how they would come back. I believe they would sure be worth it.

Would be hard to put a value on them. Least for me....

Thanks for the pics!!

I think I will contact Buck and see what they can do to get these back into shape.

Joe

It looks like they could have come from the model 206 Windsor Set we did a long time back. They originally came in a wooden box though so that block is not from Buck. One other thing is that they are stamped with the model number. Seems to me that knives from the Windsor set never had a model number but I may be off on that one. I can say the they would be serrated if they were from the 206 set. I could not tell for sure from the pictures but they did not look serrated?
Nonetheless a nice set of knives. We do have a service whereby we could clean up and sharpen them. We may be able to remove some of the pits but more than likely, they are in there for good. Probably due to a couple trips through the dishwasher.
Send me an email for details if you are interested.
Take care,
