A very good friend of mine was friends with Bill for years but has lost touch. He's done some sleuthing and so did I but came up empty. His FB has been taken over by Pakistanis from the looks of it. I checked obituary's, too. Bill lived in central California. Any help will be appreciated, my friend has gotten ill, was a member here for years.

I found an article written about him that from 2017, by what looks to be a “local” newspaper. The article states that he is 83 years old. He’d be 91 years old now.

M.Freeze, thanks, that's more info than I found. It's just strange that there is no obit or other info. Sad.

This appears to be the correct FB page- WR. Herndon

He posted the following on FB, Feb 18 2020.

--My two daughters and families want to look after the old folks, neither of us is ill or declining in health, but could happen so they want us closer if it does! As a result we are selling our place witch we both love and re locating to the SF Area! Don’t like it but it makes sense at 81 and 87!
So the Smithy was sold (couldn’t hold a hammer due to arthritis anyway) and miss it! The shop and lathe, mill, and all my tools in boxes are ready to move when the place sells! We will look for a place between Concord and Brentwood in the delta! I’ll set up and start over! Probably take a year but thats when I finish 12 or 15 in progress and start anew! Need your support and good wishes.
I’ll be changing my sales areas probably Reno, Tahoe gun shows, and Portland! May keep Anaheim show and my club show in Brea a couple of years! So if I disappear, I’m dead or moving! Thanks to those who have helped and supported me!

Thanks, really weird, your link to WR. Herndon works but I can't get it on my FB account. I'll pass this on to my friend.

Hello everyone,

Bill is my grandfather and he is alive and well with family in northern california. He no longer has the ability to make knives but speaks fondly of the time spent doing so and consistently asks about the associations and club back down in Acton. He has a lot of difficulty with short term memory but perks up and remembers every detail of every knife and friends he knew. If you're looking to contact him I'd be happy to setup the connection. Please email me at ohlookitsmr.d@gmail.com.

As a side note, we as his family have a couple of knives we all had personal attachments to that have been sold off. I've made attempts to find them and look through purchase logs to potentially buy them back but haven't had luck. I may reach back here in the future.

Thank you for keeping his art and craft alive.

Hello, I'm his grandson, if your friend is still trying to contact Bill please reach out to me.

Thanks for the update on your grandfather. I'll drop you an e-mail after talking to my friend.
