Looking for info on Mel Whitten

Have a Case knife customized by a fellow named Mel Whitten, Have seen a number of others and he does nice work. I don't, however, have any info on him. Would really appreciate any information about him that I can add to my collection records.

I have some Mel Whitten Knives and corresponded with him via email in 2019. He told me he had owned a hardware store in a small town in Pennsylvania and he would customize and sell Case Knives at the store. He was retired when I talked to him probably in his late 70's. The story goes that he was purchased a large box full of dyed mammoth tooth blocks back in the early 2000's and would cut his own scales from the blocks. Customizing Case Knives with the scales and then would sell them on Ebay.
