I bought this bit at a flea market last weekend. It was appealing to me based on the location stamped into the head. I gave it the vinegar bath and now I'm in love. This is a new found obsession but I have done my research on its origin. It was sold by C.M. McClung & Company in Knoxville Tn. The company was in business from the mid 1800's until 1919. I'm sure they didn't manufacture this axe but they did sell it. Seems to be fairly old but I'm interested to find out two things. Who made this for them and what would its value be today? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nice find. I can't say who made it, but in that shape, a bit worn and pitted but still usable, and assuming a good eye etc., I would say it is about a $30 head. More if you could find a collector that liked it for a particular reason.

C.M. McClung & Company was a hardware wholesale business about like belknap. Not sure who made their line of axes probably kelly but if kelly made them it was kellys 2nds im guessing
