made in west germany! logo says!
weight not in metric system tells it's an export model. pine logo will be cleared off later on

It is a Rhineland pattern forest axe.

A German speaker could help with identifying the maker:

https://www.holzwerken.de/museum/hersteller/marken.phtml

The mark looks like a fir tree to me, which in German is "Tannenbaum".

Tannenbaum = Simon Redtenbacher seel Wwe. & Söhne, Scharnstein

It is still listed as an existing company, however Scharnstein is located in Austria, not in the former West Germany.

The two other marks are more complex, although those firms were/are indeed located in the Western part of Germany.
I am confused, maybe this is not a fir tree after all?
Or alternatively, the axe was made in Germany as a contract work and stamped with the Austrian firm's logo?

Fir, spruce, pine. Evergreen. Conifer. Who knows. But whatever word it represents is probably diagnostic, I'd bet.
