I stumbled upon Microtech's website and I noticed they make some pretty good looking knives. I thought about purchasing one for a pocket knife.

Is anyone out there familiar with microtech?
Do they make good quality stuff?

You will probibly get several different answers from "the best thing ever" to "bites the bigone". I have a few and carry one occasionally. It has done what I have asked of it and done a very good job. However I have only used it for the regular everyday uses. (Fruit, envelopes, boxes, tape, etc.) I have not taken it out and tried to cut a car in half or anything like that. But try this
link. There are lots of people that enjoy microtechs. Also do a search on the year one archive, archive 2, and good, bad, & ugly for microtech. Should get more than you wanted to know.

It's a fine line between "a hobby" and "mental illness".

Microtechs are the best factory knife made. Of course, you could say that I am biased. Check the posts on them in the Auto forum.

IMHO, the MT autos are the finest production knives made. I don't have any manual actions, but every MT auto I've ever held has never failed to impress me. Microholics is the place to go if you are seeking info, and our own Auto forum is also a great source. And Chief is outstanding to do business with, should you decide you must have one.

Their autos AND manuals are of very high quality. They are nice looking (that's subjective

), smooth action, real work horse knives. You get them dirty, just flush warm water through, dry out and (from time to time) apply some lubricant to the pivot.
They hold edge great and the blade finish is tough. Quite a few came through my hands, so I am not just talking about one knife.

I bought my first MT in February and now have 15 or so...go ahead and buy one, what are you gonna do with all that money anyhow? Leave it in the bank? What good is it doing there? New LCC is coming soon...

IMHO-MT rules! i own rekat, bm, gerber, buck, mod, cold steel, all of which i like. my MT socom & kestrel have replaced all of them.superior fit &finish, super edge-holding,excellent lock.i only wished they offered something for lefties.

I was in the same position you are about six weeks ago. I now own four MT's. One manual socom, and three auto's. They're like Lays potato chips, you can't have just one.

Yes, they make some very high quality stuff. I currently only have one of their knives, a MA Kestrel but plan to add more as new manuals knives are made. The quality of the manual knives is very good with well designed handles and blades and just seeming like the parts come together perfectly. They are expensive but you definately get something that will last and be worth the cost.
