Hi Guys, I'm in Australia and so I was wondering if there was anyone in Australia that did appraisals for rare/collectable knives. I'm not a collector but my wife's father was. He has passed and she has had some knives sitting around the most interesting one being a Bagwell Hells Belle. After a bit of research these forums seem to be full of very knowledgeable people so I thought it might be a good place to start. Have the knife and some correspondence from Bill from 1976 which tells me its a pretty interesting knife but nothing like the Hells Belles I see out there now. The letter from Bill indicates that this is the original "Hells Belle numbered 1". can't upload pics so included a link to a google album which I hope is ok and you guys can access. Any local Guys please reach out.

My deepest condolences for the loss of your Father in Law. He must have been a very cool guy to own a knife like that.
With all due respect to Australian collectors as it is a knife made by a famous US maker, you should have it valued in the US as that is the primary market for a knife like that.

Joe is the perfect person to do this, no-one knows more about Bagwell's work than him and should you decide to sell it, Joe can point you in the right direction for that too.:)

THAT... is a historical knife. Please get a gold membership so we can guide you best.

You are worth it. Your Grandpa-in-Law was a cool person! :)

Thanks so much Joe and everyone for commenting. My father in law passed some time ago and this knife has been sitting in a case on our mantle. It was his pride and joy and is a treasured piece of family history. The letters give it such a good story too. Thanks for making the call am very interested to know his thoughts.

Bill Bag well just passed away a couple days ago! I don't know if you connected with him or not.
Figured I'd let you know. Your piece of family history has just become a treasure of history!!!
Keep it safe!!

I'm so sorry to hear the news and my deepest condolences to his family and anyone on this forum that knew him.
