Hey there fellow kids enthusiasts.

I will make this as brief as possible.
I am looking for information on this Colt M-16 knife.
I’ll add the long story below.

My questions are:

Who made it?

And what steel type?
It’s only marked 440.

Long story -

Years ago my father bought me this knife.
It was probably 20+ years ago.
I, stupidly, traded it to a friend about 10 years ago, and then lost touch with him.
Just recently, I caught back up with him and asked him, and asked, if by chance he still had this knife.
Sure enough, he still had it. And it was in the same condition as when I let him have it. Like New.

I am just happy to have it back. As means a little more to me since my father bought it for me so many years ago.
I‘m just looking for a little bit more information about it.

Link below is to picture of knife.
I have no idea how to get it to show up on here?

Can't help you with the knife, but to get pictures to show in your post, just sandwich the image link between these tags (without spaces): [ IMG ] image link [ /IMG ]

If you do it right, it'll look like this:

If there is no COO (Country of Origin) on it the liklihood that it was made in some Yangjiang China factory is high.
The Colt brand, like Smith & Wesson, Winchester and many others have been all China made for the last 20 years or so.

Update: One friend tells the United Cutlery Colt Brand Autos were made in Taiwan. While another tells me Germany.
So it's possible that China may not be the origin for this knife.

No COO

Only other markings are

CT44
440 Stainless

Is there a hidden switchblade button? Try pressing the soft part of the handle.

Steel is 440A. The Colt name was licensed to United Cutlery in the mid 90's, and the Colt line was one of their better lines. Some were contracted to Eickhorn, some were Taiwanese, some were made in the US, but I'm not sure by who. If you can find some Smokey Mountain Knife Works catalogs, circa 1996 - 2000, it will be in one.

Thank you for the information

Pictures of a CT30 box to confirm what others have said (CT30 is the model of your knife).

I liked your story. I'm glad you got your knife back.

Made by United Cutlery (Pic 1). Made in Taiwan (Pic 3, under the bar code).
