I find myself with an ever growing number of this lightweight knives, but have no real background on them such as when they first appeared, when there were dropped, was the 412 Boy Scout knife a member of this series? and other such questions. I currently have six different color of handles (or scales), several different sheaths, some with writing on the blade, two different styles of handles (scales). Thanks for any help you can give me or point me in the direction of previous threads.

The 422 was the orignal in valox-rounded design with contoured handle

Handles redesigned to more squared off edges with the horizontal lines along the spine sides in 1988 and was avialable in black and olive drab.

William, I'm always looking for more info on the Bucklites too... Fritz knows alot about Bucklites... All my info is in a box... I just moved a few months ago... Anyway like DeSotosky said you can go to that link... There is a lot of info and pics there... If you have some pics of your Bucklites please post them there...

Here is some info, for you...

I have, that the first Bucklites came out in 1984.... But, Bill Keys said 1983...
Quote: From Bill Keys... They debuted in 1983, at least that's what the plaque on my wall says... Director Lean Manufacturing & Engineering...

This is a Quote from someone from Buck I think... I just can't remember who...

First introduced in 1984, the BuckLite family of knives started small, with just three models in two handle colors. The model 422 BuckLite was fashioned after the finger-grooved 112 Ranger and used the same modified clip style blade of that model. The handle surface of these first generation BuckLites featured a very small crosshatch pattern to improve grip, with the finger-grooved side and back edge left smooth. All of the first three models were available in a rich, dark, "chocolate bar brown" color and the 422 was also offered in olive drab. These new knives came standard with an entirely new sheath design to boot, essentially a canvas pouch with a belt loop sewn into the upper half and a Velcro closure at the top. The brown knives came standard with a tan and brown sheath, and the olive drab model 422 came with a green camouflage sheath. Both sold for $12.35, and sold quite well.

412 Scoutlite was introduced in 1986 in book... ITE ...

Yes, I do remember Bill Keys writing about these and he did design the 1st in 83. I agree. The 426 came out in late 84 or early 85 with a short drop point blade of 3.5 or 3 5/8" blade and olive drab or maroon handles. These I've seen and with a cordura sheath. Later different colors. All are 425M steel. DM

You sure you don't get tired of me?
----Don't answer that... DM

David, the answer is no... You know alot about Bucklites and I always like to hear what you have to say about them... You also know alot about most Buck knives that Buck makes... And any info you give me or us here on the Forum is always a big help...

Thank you, ITE
