I'm looking for any information on a knife I've found. It has a folding blade witch is 9 1/2" long. The overall length is 20 1/2". The handle appears to be ivory and the blade is inscribed on one side with "Vendella Corsa" and on the other "che la mia ferila tia mortale". Stamped on one side is 716 VERITABLE EDOUARD.

Some images are posted here:

If anyone has any info on this thing, please contact me at joe@jcoconsulting.com

Looks to be one of the Corscican Vendetta knives. Check Levines forum here and do a search there was a similar knife in a post a few months back.

Architect,
thanks for that link, didn´t know it. Finally, I can get high-class Laguioles!

In case you're interested, the correct spelling would be: "che la mia ferita sia mortale." Which means: "may my wound be fatal." Serious stuff! Especially because "Vendetta Corsa" means "Corsican Revenge." Gotta wonder if it's ever been used in anger.

I was kind of wondering about that. I finally did figure out it was 'ferita' but the 's' in 'sia' sure doesn't look much like an 's'. ;-)

Others have told me they think it means "He who harms me will be fatally wounded".

I like your more direct translation though. :-)
