Grettings fellow HIKV sufferers,

Well it finaly happened I sucessfully defended my Masters thesis last month. About to recieve a nice cash reward for it, so I thought I would stave off another outbreak of HIKV and get me another "fix"

If you have been monitoring my past posts I have narrowed my search down to two ( now Three) HI products.
1. Malla
2. Cherokee Rose
3. Trisul Dagger

I have been going over the Archives in this forum ( Dang to hades the nonpaying members no search feature:mad:) so i ahve doing it the brute force way going through page an page of threads since the begining ( I was up to about 140 pages before I threw in the towel)

Found quite a bit of information on #2 and #3 on my list but I didn't see much in the way of a comprehensive review of the Malla. I found several posts of forumites that had one and had a couple of one or two liners in thier posts about this particular blade, mainly to the exent of I have one and I like it.

I know this isn't probably the most ordered HI product compared to the AK,M-43 etc. but is there a user review of this blade out there. Google and some of the other search engines were not much help either.

thanks folks

Marc Adkins

It may be too late to help on this search, but if you go to Google advanced search, you can restrict your internet searches to domain bladeforums.com. Works pretty good.

I have a trisul. Its nice. But if you are looking for something you will actually use you should probably get the malla. (Don't get me wrong, the trisul is as well and heavily built as any HI and you can use it but its not a style that is well suited for general use).

I'm actully looking for a couple of things, But I simply can't afford 3 HI products at once ( I probaly could but I would need a divorce attorney afterwards). So I am having to chose between them. I found enough info on the other two blades that I feel I can make an informed decision on them.

I'll try the advanced search feature,
Thank ya sir

To me, the Malla looks like a Sirupati with some minor differences in the details.

It should be light, quick, and agile, yet surprisingly strong.

Did the advanced search feature i just saved to my hard drive several posts that look like they are reviews of the Malla.

Again thanks to the HI family

If you were to characterize the Ang Khola as a 4x4 Dualie Pick-up-
And a Sirupati as a high-horse crotch-rocket motorcycle-
Then the Malla would be a classic custom Mustang or 'Vette. ;)
I have two of them now, the original is 18" or 19" and my most recent is a formidable 25". Any time I go to my Khuks, for any reason, I always take out the Mallas. I just love the way they feel.

Kathy and I are the pleased and proud owners of a truly unique Cherokee Rose- customized and presented to us as a wedding gift/Kake Kutter by the wonderful people of the Cantina. Sentiment prevents it from seeing much daily use, but Kathy assures me that sentiment would not prevent her from using it to ventilate the vital organs of any deserving dirtbag that might make the mistake of violating the sanctity of our home. It is unavailable for that purpose now, anyway- being in the capable restorative hands of Dan Koster.

As for the Trisul- I would love to pick one up. I'd like to have the "standard" model, and I plan on ordering a custom version here one of these days.

I guess I can only say that you couldn't go wrong with any of your choices, so perhaps you might contact Yangdu when she returns to find out what is available. If you have a specific handle material preference, you could let what is on hand now be the deciding factor.

Let us know what you end up with! :)

Thanks MacHete,

I guess that would make my Dui Chirra the Farm Tractor then :)

On an another non blade forum I desribed my then three kuks like this;

My BAS is the Juvinile delinquent that has had a few run in with the police, My M-43 is his older brother that has spent time in the pen. My Museum Model is the stone cold professional killer of the family.

I could add now that my Dui Chirra is the strong silent clan Patriarch sitting at his desk looking at you with with raised eyebrows

We wont even discuss my non HI Kuks

Yeppers I am looking for a weapon, I just need to sit down and decide while I await the windfall so I can decide on which one it's going to be.

All three have thier advantages and disadvantages, I just have to map them out.

With all the information I am collecting I am pretty much thinking it's going to be the Malla. Eventually I will own the other two.
