I know this was said in jest, but I think its a fantastic idea!

Yeah just playing around on a rainy morning but I’m skirting the line because seriously, across the forums within BF these same style threads get posted 2-3 times a day on average I bet.

It even makes me wonder why? It’s all very basic and standard internet to upload and post a picture here, it’s not new tech and people complain it’s too archaic in some ways haha.

I'm fairly sure that the marks on the blade were done by the maker.....
As for pictures, I've been on a number of forums over the years, and this forum for whatever reason seems to be the worst for picture posting. I find that odd considering the best way to post a picture now is the same way its been done for the past 20 years.....

Thanks for the mention!
This is an Mk1 khukuri. The mk1 was the first of the standard issue khukuris issues to the gurkhas- before this point they were not particularly standardised. They saw use during ww1. They are interesting blades and feature high weights, no buttcap, with a threaded tang and nut holding the handle down and typically a short stubby handle. if the FW marking is historical and not added at a later date then this particular blade is a Fort William variant. These tend to be a bit lighter, sometimes have longer handles (as seen here) and are regarded as the mk1 with the highest level of craftsmanship. They're the most desirable of the mk1 blades for collectors.
The cutout near the handle is the cho/ kaudi which is a decorative feature that often features religious symbology. In these blades it is referred to as a pagoda cho due to resembling the silhouette of a temple. This is common to all mk1s and isn't a mark of the specific maker. The hammer dots are also generally common across blades.

It appears there are some markings on the side of the blade. I can't give you any detailed information on what these mean but if you post in International Kukri Research & Historical Society on facebook with photos of any and all markings (including handle) someone may be able to let you know a year of manufacture or a regiment or similar for who it was made for.

Another thing to note is the sheath in the image you've shown. It looks to be in very good condition compared to some examples that I've seen.

There is some information on history and markings on this blog page here.
