Looking for a good set of kitchen shears. Is there anything out there other than the usual Wusthoff/Chicago Cutlery/Henkels/etc that is good quality but won't break the bank?

when i got promoted to sue chef my wife bought me a pair of shun shears, they where great i used them daily.

EMT shears for me. $3, lots of leverage, they will bust up some chickens and any bones out there.

Heritage Cutlery makes some fantastic ones. I highly recommend them.

Kershaw Taskmasters

First pair of readily available kitchen sheers I haven't been able to break with normal use.

Cutco Model 77 Super Shears are awesome. We've had a pair in our knife block for a LONG time.

Oh gawd, did you say Cutco?

Yes I did. They were a gift from my sister twenty years or so ago. We have abused the hell out of them and they are still going strong. What's not to like?

I only use break-apart kitchen shears.

While they are in two pieces you can clean that joint for certain. Which means your tool isn't harboring microbial nastiness like Salmonella.

I own three different brands. My favorite are the Lamson Sharp Kitchen Shears.

I guarantee you those are made for them by Heritage Cutlery. They look exactly like their high-leverage kitchen shears and they do OEM work. :)

If Camillus could make knives for Buck, I don’t see why Heritage Cutlery can’t make scissors for Lamson Sharp.

Yup! Just pointing out that your favorite ones are the same as my favorite ones even if they're a rose by a different name. :D
