I'm wondering of anybody has any recommendations for a knife to keep in the car.

I'm looking for something that incorporates a folding blade, seatbelt cutter an capable of self defense.

Price range can go up to $200 but under $100 would be best.

if your looking for a folder id say the benchamde triage maybe it has a seatbelt cutter glass breaker and a really nice blade. however it you would consider or are even able to id look at the becker bk3

Where are you going to keep it in the car? Think about what will happen to the knife in case of an accident, where is it going to fly off to? I would say for your intended use, I would prefer a fixed blade so that I don't have to worry about opening it, and attach it to the car somewhere within reach.
I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions, but maybe this will help you come up with something.

I would have to agree with Kappi - a Benchmade Triage seems ideal.

Or you could go a cheaper route and get the Benchmade 550 Griptilian + A Benchmade Strap Cutter or Rescue Hook.

I think it would be nice to have both.. a knife and a separate rescue tool. There are several knives you could get.

My recommendations for a car knife:
Benchmade Triage
Benchmade Griptilian
Benchmade 530

Maybe something by Kershaw for cheap, good, and something that's going to just ride around and slide around in the car plus a rescue hook? Look into the Turbulence, Leek, Blur, Tremor. Those are my suggestions if you go with Kershaw.
You can pick up any of them for a good price, and add a Benchmade Rescue Hook to the purchase and come in under $100.

Good luck finding what you're looking for!

First thing I thought of was the Spyderco Assist. Blunt tip, so you won't stab yourself, serrated, and also, the glass breaker only comes out when you squeeze the blade into the handle, which I think is kinda cool.

The Triage was made just for this purpose.

The only issue is where to keep it. If you need to use a seatbelt cutter, if you're actually pinned in your seat, you might have a hard time reaching your glove compartment. So I went with the ResQMe tool and keep that on my keychain. For the knife part, I always have one on me anyway.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll need a of time to research everything.

I'll most likely be keeping the knife in the center stack as I have two compartments that can be closed just under the radio controls. Easy to reach.

I get a ResQMe: http://www.resqme.com/ They're very good, and very affordable. That'll cover your seatbelt cutter and window breaker.

Use the rest of the money for whatever folder you like. A BM Griptilian, a Spyderco Endura, a CS Recon or Voyager, etc.

I keep my Gerber LMF II ASEK in the car with me next to my seat. Glass breaker on the butt, 5" serrated blade, and the belt cutter that it came with in the console.

Mine is a Gerber Prodigy ( older mdel with 12C27 Sandvik steel)
Pretty strong knife for prying , serrations for seat belt/clothes cutting , pommel window punch , and not too much of a loss if your car gets jacked. It met all my criteria for a "car" knife. The newer 420HC steel is probably ok also. I keep it in the map pocket behind the passengers seat. Won't go flying around and I can still grab it from the driving position.
The LMF 2 stated above is also a good choice.:)

Fixed blades only for me. I don't want any pivoted knife when SHTF car accident occurs. You may have to punch through metal ; not something I would want to do with a folder.

Plus 1 on fixed blade for emergency. I keep a Mora under driver seat plus a 3-D cell Maglite with Malkoff glass breaker butt cap.

As far as folder I would choose bench made triage awesome knife, fixed blade would be Anza Boddington
