Looking for knife knuts in North County SD

None of my friends are knife knuts. I really enjoy driving an hour up to Plaza Cutlery to talk knives with whoever is working there, but that is a long drive and I only make it once every two weeks when I want to buy a knife.

I'd like to meet some local knife knuts to hang out with and mess around with each other's collection. This may seem like an odd request, but if there are any knife knuts around Oceanside that are also looking for fellow knife knuts to meet in person, well, post here and maybe we can meet.

This could be a one-time thing, or maybe we'll hit it off and want to "hang out" regularly. If we can get several of us together, maybe we can have little knife meets. We'll just play it by ear and see what develops, if anything.

I don't care how old someone is or what their other hobbies are, but if it matters to you, I am 22, enjoy playing guitar, and like watching shows like Family Guy and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. So if you have similar other interests, we may really hit it off. If you hate young punks with their loud music, or just feel it would be strange to hang out with someone much younger than you, then you probably shouldn't give me a jingle.

Someone brought up the same question a couple of years ago here in New Jersey, where we do have a lot of knife knuts. It worked out very well. We asked around to see who was interested, emailed people with NJ locations in their profiles, got together for a meeting at a centrally located restaurant, and ended up with regular meetings every month.

We are now the NJKCA -- New Jersey Knife Collectors Association -- and we meet on the third Sunday of the month at 1:00 PM. We generally see a dozen to two dozen members at each meeting.

If you get a response from a few people and want any ideas on what to do next, we can keep this thread going, or you can email me at ebhausman@gmail.com to talk about it further.

I live in Northern Orange County and would be up for a trip to somewhere between the two of us. Anyone else interested?

Maybe we can meet at Plaza Cutlery in Costa Mesa :D

Buy some knives, eat a nice meal at the Claim Jumper next-door to Plaza Cutlery, talk knives, etc...

I also got an email from someone in Vista (which is just next to Oceanside) who also plays guitar (like me) and is an ABS Mastersmith. Almost sounds too good to be true! I am trying to return his email, but my computer is old and tired and keeps crashing.

I live in north county San Diego and would be interested in a group meeting similar to the one described by Esav. Unfortunately I've been tied up with pressing family business the past few months and will be in the forseeable future (next few months). But you can count me in down the road.

I have been busy too. I work two jobs and was spending my little free time to move. Still not done with the move yet...

So, kamkazmoto, sorry I have not contacted you. My next Plaza Cutlery trip is probably going to be a few weeks away, but I will not go without contacting you first.

Panella, I will make sure to contact you if I get anything together. Make sure to Email me in a few months when you are no longer busy.
