Seeking a medium sized folding knife with high clip placement for discreet carry - something like a Benchmade Pika.

Any ideas would be appreciated. TIA.

Your link doesn't work, but I assume you were referring to the Benchmade Pika. If so, don't let its low price mislead you. It is a great knife and the clip carries lower than any other knife I own. You also have the choice of the new tanto blade or even the coated NRA model.

Like I suggested on CPF, I think an Al Mar Mini SERE 2000 fits your requirements perfectly. A great knife at a fair price and it has a deep-carry pocketclip.

The Al Mar Mini SERE looks like a contender. Tadgear in San Francisco has them, so I may pop down there today. Thanks for your reply.

I have yet to see anything more discreet than the clip on the Sog FLASH II - it literally looks like a normal pen is clipped in your pants. The only knife I've seen with an equally high, but smaller clip is my Xikar 188 Extreme.

Editted to add a picture of both knives...

Cool, it's always best to see a knife in person before making a decision. I wish I had that luxury :)

UKPK has low ride....the Snody Resistor has a low ride too. I think STR will custom make you a low ride clip for just about any knife, but you'd have to check with him.

Or you can always get the knife you really want and then ask the forum member STR to customize a low rider clip for you :)

sorry for the hijack, butwhile we're on the subject.

does low ride even matter?

not very many people are that observant anyways.
im sure other "more observant" forumites can back me up.
you would be suprised what the average person DOSENT see.
and it goes double for a non-knife person noticing a knife peeking out of someones pocket.

The BM 610 Rukus rides very well, a little decieving in fact, belying its big size. Very comfortable carry too.

Matador-

My Combat Elite RRF (when it was still Combat Elite.)has a very low rider clip. There is barely any knife showing in my pocket.

if i can see the clip;i still think knife. and so does everybody else. discrete is latin for "put it in your pocket".or iwb.

Actually, I agree with drano. Most people not already fascinated by the world of weaponry and martial practces aren't as observant as we would assume. Of course, never *assume* anything, but I have found drano's observation to be often true. That doesn't mean one shouldn't carry a discreet blade, though. Then there are the other arguments going on in various threads here on carrying; tip up, tip down, is the mere sight of a knife in someone's pocket or hand a deterrent or not...

I find it's mainly sheeple who don't notice the knife, i notice a clip right away on someone...

Here's a perfect example, I carry a 42 in the sheath on my belt, handles back right side, my RA has never even noticed, and i dont wear long shirts or to cover it, a butterfly nut like my friend noticed instantly...

also, BM mini ambush rides real low, low enough for even a knife fan to think it's just a permanent marker at a quick glance...
