I have an Emerson La Griffe and a CRKT Bear Claw and have fallen in love with this "claw" like blade design. Does anyone know of other knives with the same blade shape?

Welcome, Archer. I have two in my collection that come to mind. One is a Neil Blackwood miniHawksbill and the other is a Jens Anso naked DamaClaw. Both knives and both makers I highly recommend.

Archer, you might want to consider an original La Griffe by Fred Perrin. BladeArt has several of Fred's excellent pieces in stock.

Dont forget the MOD Ladyhawk, that should cover any desire you might have for a folder with that style of blade

On the above note. Keep in mind the Spyderco Merlin and/or Harpy.

My favorite all time billhook/prunning knife was Reese Weiland's WASP model. A very well made little knife with a first rate leather sheath. The example below dates to 1994, he also has a folding version of this knife.

My example has a darkened ATS-34 blade and black micarta scales, and a dark saddle leather sheath. The knife deploys very quickly from its holster like sheath, it can be comfortably held with the point up or down, and the false edge is fully sharpend.

Archer,
Above is my Hawkbill Neck Knife. This is a rather plain one with a bead blast finish and black Micarta. A larger view can be found on my website.

That Microtech is gorgeous. However, to avoid taking out a second mortgage on the house, consider the Kershaw Talon linerlock with either titanium or G-10 handles, and 3 inch ATS-34 blade. I played with one and the opening is very smooth.

MSRP is $110, but they can be purchased for $80.

P.S. I've played around with Kershaws but have never owned any. I will say that they are often overlooked and under-rated at these forums.

They are much better knives than are given credit for by the larger legions of MT, Benchmade, and Spyderco fanatics here.

GigOne,
What is the relationship with the Hawk, MT and Reese Weiland?? That's my favorite MT!!
Jens,
I WANT one of those!
PLEASE dont forget the Andre de Villiers Operator!! I have one and it's a great knife. If I ever get done working on my website, I will try to post a picture of mine

Knifeart.com usually has pics of Andre's knives that are for sale.

I've got one of these Kershaw 1420 Talons which come in either plain or 50/50 combo edge. Shaving sharp out of the box and the lock bar mates fully with the back of the blade with precision. The smoothest opening folder (has teflon bushings) I've ever owned, bar none. Even my customs aren't so darned smooth.

The drawbacks: The liners are very thin and that ultra-smooth opening means it could accidently come open with little pressure.
