I recently stumbled across Kanetsune's line of field knives and instantly fell in love with everything but the price. The Shun is by far my favorite http://www.katerno.com/detail.php?s=175785, and the Damascus steel is definitely a perk, but not a necessity. I have a thing for wooden handles and wooden sheaths, but I'm having trouble finding other brands that have a similar style, besides a few other Japanese makers, like Takeshi Saji's "hand made" knives http://japan-blades.com/big-seller/309.html. I have several Finnish puukkos that satiate my need for traditional looking blades and handles but I'd like to ask everyone else if they have any suggestions for me.
If it comes down to it, I'll snag a Shun or Akatsuki for the least inexpensive asking price I can find and be happy.
