My little girl's 30th is this March 25th and I promised her a knife. Anyone care to share a pic of a nice little fixed blade purse knife I could emulate.

Thanks. RL

Mail received Joe and many thanks. Beautiful work indeed but I am more of a classical type and also do not yet hollow grind. Too conservative, some argue about me.

Roger

I've made a couple similar to this with kydex slip sheaths

I still have that one in a drawer somewhere if you'd like dimensions or anything.
My mom has one that I made much wider, so that its more of a regular handle size and the blade is about 3/4" wide with lots of belly. She uses it quite a bit, although it stays in the kitchen rather than in her purse.

Hi Roger,

I sent you a word document of a template. Hope it helps

Take Care
Dean

edited to add: The version I made of this was flat ground.

Matt, I disagree entirely with your low opinion of that file work. It is amazing to me how well you did it by hand.

I am looking for something feminine but funtional for both utility and protection.

Roger

these are about as feminine as I get..Roger

Roger,
Flat grinding is the newest kid on the block. Just since the advent of the belt grinder.

Hollow grinding has been around for at least a millenium. :D

Darn Mike, I thought you were going to give me a good one to profile:).

I'll hollow grind sometime before I'm gone for good.

Dan, I like the stuby one for her. That is getting closer to what I have in mind but just can't put my finger on it because I am not imaginative enough. If nothing closer comes along I'll probably, with your blessings, work with that one.

Great work too; of course!

Thanks. RL

Here's a design I like. It can be made in any blade length, you just have to scale the other parts down.

Mike, that is nice for anyone but I think (after seeing that stuby one of Dan's) I am looking for something short, wide blade, with a feminine handle design. I've seen it right here on BF but it was a couple years ago and I just can't picture it completely enough. Dan's is close except for the handle. Maybe I can ask Chris Crawford if he minds I copy his high-heel rear bolster look. But that still ain't it.

I guess I'm being a pain in the rump roast but its for my little girl whom I had lost for many years. I'll know it when I see it.

ADDENDUM: Mike, I was writting as you posted the smaller one. That is closer. Stubby and short OAL.

Thanks. RL

Hey Roger, this is our "Stubby". We usually do them as magnetic neckers but, a few have gone into pouch sheaths for purses and such.

or maybe something like this...

Rene Roy also just posted one he did for his sister-in-law that was very nice.

J.,

That's about the blade shape. I need to do something about the handle though. I want feminine there. Curves. Pretty but functional curves.

Thanks and I do like that knife AND I do want that contrasting leather in the sheath. Love that sheath.

Roger

THe thong on mine is part of the grip for it,
because of the short handle I designed it that way
it takes up very little space. use what you'd like of it Roger

hey guys I like all of those nice:D

I` m thinking --yes I know problems already
I would think a push dagger with carved pearl handle ,gold screws, file worked back bone .stainless Damascus blade --a tight latter would be good , matching ss damascus metal sheath.
also for her -
place a diamond some where
she surely deserves the best :) :)
ok ok im headed back to the cave

lower the gun
shop tip of the day ---say(please)

Roger,

This is a bird and trout utility style. 6 1/2" OAL, 3" DP D2, G10 bolsters copper spacers and liners and recon turqoise spacer with elk antler scales.

Crappy photo-as usual.

Sheath is retan with spanish braid lacing and boot clip.

Just realized I forgot the attachment-see below.
