Hey all,

I am looking for recommendations on a large folder 5+ inch blade. I want to carry this at a wedding, and I feel my folders in the 4.25 inch range are a bit small.

Specifications:
-Gentlemanly (Like a Spyderco Vallotton)
-Can be tactical (Like a ZT303, or ZT 561)
-Overall beautiful (Like a Sebenza or Umnumzaan)

No:
-Cold Steel Rajas or Espadas
-Manix XL (own it)
-Military (Own it)
-ZT's (own most of them, lolz)
-Fixed blades

Keep it under $400 and I'll be happy.

Spyderco Police?
6 inch Ti Lite
CS XL Voyager
CS XL Recon 1
Hossom Ontario Retribution 1

Extrema Ratio Dark Talon is almost 5"

HTM Darrel Ralph Madd Maxx 5.5 seems to fit the bill. Has a 5.5" blade, CF Overlay, s30v, ti frame lock, Bayonet shaped blade, just a little over $400

+1 for the Cold Steel Voyager XL. I have a plain-edge clip point that's light and easy to tote.

Madd Maxx or AXD would both fit the description. Too bad the company has bad quality control and the owner is a jerk.

I know some people have gotten knives with poor fit and finish, but there are several who love their HTM knives because the products are good? Not sure.
I know they make a nice knife but I think they're kind of hit and miss.

+2 On the Cold Steel Voyager XL. Be careful though cause they're hungry, and will bite. Mine got me good. Of course it was due to operator error.

HTM AXD, Expendables version.

Unfortunately it does sound like they have quality issues. Might be a chance to justify raising your price point, go all out and pick up a full Darrel Ralph custom AXD!

A 4.5" blade folder is already pretty big... a 5" one will be HUGE! What's your top dollar? You could get a fine custom with a 5" blade...

Cold Steel Voyager XL(clip point, tanto, and recurve versions available, so you have options), Cold Steel Hold Out 1, Cold Steel Ti-Lite 6'', Opinel 12...all of which are under $100. Of those, the Ti-Lite or Opinel are probably the most "beautiful" of the lot.

BTW...what kind of wedding are you going to where a 4.25 inch blade is "a bit small", is the Don's daughter getting married or something?
