Looking for Maker; my knife design

I have designed and sketched a knife I would like made to my specs. The knife involves a compound grind maybe some milling but otherwise not much more complicated. I guess it qualifies as a "tactical" type but who knows what that means ;)

Steel: 440C, CPM S30V, or ATS34
Handle: Micarta vs G10

Which custom knife maker could accomodate me best?

Thanks

Let me suggest an easier way of doing this: Try to find a maker with a similar style of knife. You save yourself the trouble of possibly going with a maker who isnt well known for that style, and you have something to compare it with. Just a suggestion, take it as you will. Hope this helps.

You might try to post the design or better describe it. This would help more people suggest makers.

Good advice...

You could also post a pic of your design (I can post it for you) and see what makers respond to it.

I've had a few of my ideas turned into finished knives with the knowledge and craftsmanship of a number of knifemakers I searched out. I asked if they would be interested in looking at my sketch and if they had time to tackle the job if they felt it could be done. Once I even posted a sketch of a knife and asked if any knifemakers would be interested in making it. No responses for about 2 weeks... then Ariel Salaverria contacted me and said he'd like to try making my 'ringed fighter'. It worked out very well. Good luck in your endeavor and post pixs of the finished knife! :)

Why dont you talk to Yun of Yuna knives who goes by < Trisak > on this forum. I was at his shop last month and saw many styles of knives and all of them I would be proud to own. His specialty is combat and EDC folders and not only does he know how make one he also knows how to use one to the extreme. I have commisioned a Automatic knife from him and will finalize the details soon. It will be a old style lever lock with titanium liner and lots of blade. I can say he has been a pleasure to work with. Anyway you go good luck.

General idea:

I thought you wanted a folder but you can still aproach Yun, Some of the knifes in His shop are way different than what has been seen on this site including large fighters and I will say I doubt if you can find anyone nicer to deal with than him.

I agree with Brian...but not sure how backlogged Dwayne is...nor if he takes custom orders (retails most of his stuff through dealers).

Thanks, fo the help so far. I had previously contacted Dwaine Carillo and he told me that at this time he is not making fixed blades or taking custom orders. His site has some great knife pics.

tx Brian :)
not unless he wants to wait over a year for it.. :(

I see your knife Dan, very nice. Waiting is not an issue (not 2 yrs though :D ). You see the grind line and the spine.... the "hockey stick" spine. How busy are you?
