Been carrying a Kabar tanto short for years, but would really like to find something a bit shorter...something around a 3" blade length, but otherwise in the same style blade and handle.
I just really like that round handle design, even though I presume the flatter style might be better for many since I see FAR more knives using flatter handles. I also want a full plain edge, not the partial serrated I see on others, and sticking with a tanto. Also absolutely want a fixed blade...not a fan of folders.
I saw the Cold Steel Mini Leatherman is awfully close to a mini Kabar, but I wonder how good a $30 knife is going to hold up to daily use? If it works, awesome. Cheap is great, but not if I'm replacing it frequently, lol. Up to $100 is no big deal to me, $200 is probably my upper limit.
I'll be using it as a daily carry, and as a work knife...the usual package openings, cutting out small wires, ropes, trimming wood bits, etc. I use my knives as a do it all tool, rather than carrying a dozen specialized tools, which admittedly is probably abuse of the blades, lol. But it's convenient...
