and want a sheeple friendly blade. I've narrowed my choices to the Snubby CQC14, or the Mini CQC7b. I'm strongly leaning towards the Snubby mainly due to the more conventional blade shape and the full size scales. The Mini has a lower price and looks a bit more pocket friendly but I never had a Tanto style blade nor a knife with a chisel grind. The knife will see heavy use in construction, cutting numerous materials, in dirty conditions...Which would you choose???

Thanks
Dave

Dave, I was right were you are not too long ago. I got the Snubby. GREAT knife...just get it. Hasn't left my pocket since it arrived.

yes, emerson's are great knives, but are more "aggressive" looking than many others.

not typically what one would refer to as sheeple friendly.

that said, the 14 is probably the closest you will get from eki.

A sheeple friendly Emerson knife... that is going to be a bit of a challenge to find, I would probly go with the CQC-14 Snubby since the blade is a bit shorter than the regular knives but has the handle of a normal knife. If you go with a CQC-7B you miss out on the "wave" feature but for some people its a hit or miss feature, for myself I honestly love the wave since I can pull my blade out and have it open and ready for the situation within seconds.

If you are looking for a more full blade I'd probly go with the CQC-10 since the blade profile doesn't look like a super agressive style like the CQC-12 or CQC-13, but the benefits are a slightly longer blade, great fitting handle (fits in the palm of my hand perfectly) and feels very comfortable in the palm of your hand.

It really all depends on what you want in a EKI but you can't go wrong with any you choose from. :D

When I say sheeple fiendly I'm refering more to the blade length. I have a Spyderco Paramilitary which I like a lot, I just figured I go with a different flavor and get an Emerson and see what all the buzz is about. I've pretty much made up my mind on the Snubby:D, and will be pulling the trigger.

I carry either a Commander or a Super CQC-7, I haven't not had an Emerson in my pocket since I got my first one. Don't hesitate to buy one.

I think you''ll like the snubby.

Production you are pretty much going to have to look over the CQC14.

The rest of them are all fairly long less sheeple friendly folders in the production like. Maybe a CQC7 or HD7 would be next for a production.

The most sheeple friendly knives Ernie makes are the CQC5 and 6 custom models. There was one for sale not long ago on the forums.

Well,
Sent my money out this morning for a NIB CQC-14, PE, SF,:D. Now for the wait..I'm looking forward to a new heavy use, no nonsense folder for work.

You know the Hardware line from Emerson recieves very little in the way of comment but they are actually quite nice for the money. The Endeavor is one I own and its as good as any other knife around and looked at more favorably by me than over 3/4s of the rest of the production folders in their USA made line up. These little Seki Japan AUS8 folders are fine users and good sizes with great handles.

The Traveler is a very sheeple friendly version of the Hardware series and would make a great easily replaced beater upper to carry along into uncharted territory or just for a tool box.
