Looking for my first Busse

I want a small fixed blade for EDC. (The Game Warden is a little too small) I want the toughest knife for all possible situations. I am not a collector, this will be a user. The name Busse comes up often on this forum. Can someone please make a suggestion, I am not real familiar with the entire line. I guess then the trick is actually buying one before all you Busse fanatics grab them. Maybe someone can explain how the Ganzza's work. Thanks.

Active Duty. I would recommend one of the Military Over-run AD's that were Sabre Ground and Sold in Black Micarta and Sage Crinkle Coat or Tan Micarta and Muddy Brown Crinkle Coat. It's my favorite and should run just over $200.00

Fairly new to Busse here also. I just bought a Skinny ASH (Anniversary Steel Heart). Its thinnner than most ASH1s but certainly thicker than a lot of other knifes out there. Tough does not begin to describe it. The good thing about a Busse is that tough and durable pretty much run through the entire line up. So you dont have to worry about size compromising strength or usability. Check out hogcult.com and bussecollector.com for a wide range of Busse specs and pictures. You can get an idea of how each knife compares to the other. If you want to see pics of a skinny ash, look below for my thread called "ash and you shall receive" Its the one with the black and tan grips. Its about 12" long. Not too heavy, and balanced very well.

I'm sure other will chime in with more help.

An active duty or Meaner are both bigger than the GW. I would keep my eye out for one of them to pop up on the exchange.

A Ganza is where Jerry posts a bunch of pictures on this forum along with the prices. On a set date he will post a Go here on the forums and anyone who wants one or more of the kives previously listed sends Jerry and Amy an e-mail asking for said blades. It is a first come first served type of thing so you must try to be fast with your e-mail.

This small knife / EDC question seems to be popping up a lot lately... there are a couple of good thread discussing EDC sized Busse's that have had recent activity, so those might provide some more information in addition to this thread.

My only beef with the Busse EDC blades is the insistence on using a choil - you either end up with a tiny choil like the one on the Active Duty, which is too small to use for choking up on the blade, but way bigger than it needs to be for sharpening, or a full-sized choil the one on the High Street, which ends up eating up a ton of blade space.

There are about 8 million variations on the active duty and mean(er) street type designs, so pretty much any of those could work for you if you don't mind choils on small knives.
