I've been a distant admirer of Busse blades for a few months now and think its about time to pick one up but which is my dilemma.

I am lost with the acronyms that fly around the forum and have no idea of the models, I know that I like the look of this

busse-nmsfno.jpg

Source hogcult via google search.

The shape of the blade really appeals to me so this looks to be my ideal Busse, I guess these are no longer made? and subject to secondary pricing inflation and not easily available??

I also like the current production Team Gemini Light Brigade but the many options has me stuck in a land of indecision......too much choice!

I can narrow the finish down to Tanker Grey but the handle type? and colour? Which is better, micarta or G10, is one more hard wearing?

I have also heard tell of an uncoated option with these which I would prefer.

Any advise on ordering these and images of your TGLB's as I'm interested in seeing how these look with the many finish and handle options.

Thanks in advance.

The one in your picture is an NMSFNO(Nuclear Meltdown Special Forces Natural Outlaw) you can probably pick one up on the exchange for $450-650. Personally I prefer Micarta handles as they are slightly more comfortable, if you want a 'satin' blade request a 'Competition finish' when you order it (It is basiclly the lack of the finish) It may have a few slight blemishes in it but its as close as you can get. Have a look at all the combinations of colors before ordering there are allot of nice interesting mixes in the g10 range. Sorry no pics but I have 2 TGLB's on the way (Tanker grey blade, black micarta handles).

Satin, like the blade in that picture, IS a finish. Competition is an unfinished blade, and is more prone to rust than any other finish offered by Busse. If you want a NMSFNO (the knife pictured), contact the custom shop; they cost $497 (+ a wait) new, in satin. On the exchange, prices fluctuate. If you wait, you can find a NMSFNO for $400-$500. Heck, I only just missed an unused LE @$550 by like 20min in the Giantganza :grumpy: lol that one hurt...

You can't go wrong with a TGLB.

Colors however are very personal. Competition Finish may narrow the choices down, because some colors will then look awful.
If you're planning on going CF I would suggest sticking with one handle color, or at least the darker two tones.

A combo I really like is Muddy Brown with Red&Black G10.

Here's mine, Black blade and Tan Canvas:

Here you go...

Black with Black Canvas

Black with Black G10

Uncoated with Black & Orange G10

Competition finish is the new black. It goes with everything. I really like it with the brighter colors.

That is just my opinion. Do what you like. That is what makes it fun. Everybody likes something different. If not I would get bored cause I would have to make thousands of knives that look exactly the same.

I went Tanker with Black Canvas. I ordered it pretty early, the Comp. Finish came well after my order was filled and delivered. That said, I'm happy with the Tanker and recommend it.

The Team Gemini with blue/black g10 looks awesome  Let us know what you choose!

Thanks for all the feedback, I've narrowed it down to two combinations -

Tanker grey with blue G10
Uncoated with orange G10

At first the blue and orange G10 handles were my least favourite but the photos posted and linked here have swayed me from the safer / subtle colours to bold and brash.

I have a feeling I'm going to own a few TGLBs.

Keep the photos flowing, the TGLB is very photogenic.
