I'm new here and looking for a little help. I know this is a common question in these posts but I'm trying to narrow down my options. I currently have a Kershaw Crown and Buck 327 for EDC and I'm looking for something new. I am asking for a new EDC knife from "Santa Claus" A.K.A. my wife and want to keep the overall cost a little on the low side, we are all on a bit of a budget over here.

What I'm looking for is;

blade lenghth right around 3-3.5 inches
liner or frame lock
NO assisted opening system
cost around 30-35

I know a 30 dollar price point isn't much to work with but I don't need anything fancy just someting that'll be there for everyday tasks.

Thank you for any opinions or ideas that I can look into.

Ive got a Kershaw OsO-Sweet that I like a lot. It came in a blister pack, the only thing that Ive done to it is take it apart and lock-tite the thing

Hard to go wrong with a Kershaw skyline or a spyderco ambitious/persistence/tenacious/resilience (pick your favorite size) at this price point.

Make it manual. Very easy believe theres u tube video

No detent ball makes it less than ideal in manual configuration. Where as a tenacious is a fantastic knife for the money and is everything the OP wanted, if its too big size down to a persistence. Look for a size comparison on the Tenacious, they're on the bigger side of a medium knife size.

I know you're looking for folders, but my favorite all time edc, is the becker bk14. 1095 crovan steel, super tough, perfect size and you can find them for $35 shipped.

Thank you everyone. I know it's a bit of a touchy subject because everyone has a different insight according to needs and I appreciate all comments and ideas.

I am thinking possibly about the Spyderco Tenacious, Kershaw Vapor 3, Camillius Les Stroud folder and the Spyderco Persistance.

I'm going to go ahead an say you should cross that les stroud knife off your list...its junk. Stick with kershaw or spyderco for this one. The tenacious and persistence are some of the best budget minded knives out there, just pick which size fits you best and go with it.

Ontario RAT1 is also a great bang for your buck kind of blade. Good ergos, extremely fast deployment and zero blade play for $30. With that being said I'm also a fan of the tenacious.

Any of the Spyderco tenacious series would be a great pick. I have both the tenacious and the ambitious. Great knives, great quality.
