Looking for old Gerber knife

My brother gave me a great fixed blade skinning knife back in 72 or 73. I let someone borrow it in 1973 and never saw it again. Anyway, my brother had one also and has lost his many years ago. It was made by Gerber. The handle was metal with grit formed into it, I think the handle was gray in color and hollow possibly, the blade I don't recall the finish. It would take a great edge and made deer skinning almost fun. Seems as though the sheath was black nylon. The blade was very broad almost to the tip and tapering towards the handle.
I thought it would be nice to give one back if I could find one. Sorry but that's about all I can remember.
Thanks

Is the Gerber knife you are looking for in this brochure ?
What you describe sounds a bit like the model Flayer on the right, fourth one from the top.

You can click the picture 2 x for more detail.

Gerber Flayer in Armorhide finish most probably.

Do a Google search for that ("Gerber Flayer in Armorhide") and you'll see some that have went for 60-70 dollars on a popular auction/sales site on the Internet, or one store that has one for sale (albeit at $185!)

For somebody who can't remember yesterday worth a darn the Flayer sure does look familiar. I think you have all identified it perfectly. I see one on line in near perfect condition for $185.00 and several others that sold on eBay for under $70.00 For $70.00 I might get one for myself!
Thanks to all who contributed, that answered my question pretty quickly for sure. The box and paperwork is of no interest to me, just the knife and matching sheaf.
If anyone has the need to sell one or two of these please me know.
Thanks
