I am looking for a high quality single blade one hand opening traditional style knife, preferably with stag handles. I have a case trapperlock already and I am looking for a knife from a different maker about the same size that is elegant for carry with a business suit. I have no preference as to blade material as long as it is high quality. This knife will be carried and used so it needs to be made of quality materials and put together well. My budget is $160 US Dollars.

Thanking the forum members in advance for their assisting me in this search

To be blunt, "one-hand opening" and "tradition" are usually not used together in the same sentence. Apart from the Case Russlock or various "one-armed" razor barlows, "traditional" knives almost always need two hands to open. What I think you're looking for is a modern knife with natural materials (which makes it look like a "traditional" pocket knife). If you're stuck on stag, your options are going to be very limited. A.G. Russell makes their 1 handed knife in stag, but it's way above your budget. They also make a Voyager with stag overlays and a damascus (not stainless) blade if you're into that. There's a CRKT M4 with stag for much less, but steel quality is low-end. If you're OK with wood handles, your options open up greatly. Benchmade, Buck, and Lonewolf (now owned by BM, but you can find NOS - new old stock - in places) all make great knives with wood handles.

Moved to "General" where other options with a "traditional" flavor can be explored and recommended for the OP...

Al Mar might have something that interests you. I've seen an Al Mar Eagle with thumb-studs and honey jigged-bone scales on one of the bigger sales websites.

I have 2 alternative options:
You can do a lot less tasteful than a wonderful Fontenille Pataud one hand opening laguiole, with nearly invisible back lock. What's more traditional than a laguiole?

The "Gentlemen" variant is good for pocket carry, this one with buffalo horn scales:

There is also a one hand opening variant of the longer classic laguiole (though also with back lock), this one with stag scales:

2. Not exactly traditional, but using a very traditional lever / "piemontais" one-hand opening system is the liner locking and timeless looking Perceval L-10, this one with ram horn scales:

These are for sure amongst the most chic semi-traditional options...

i second Fontenille-Pataud knives, they are superbly finished with a large range of handle materials.Lockbacks one handed are safer than liners in that they can't partially open in your pocket

Another suggestion could be something from Paul Chen Hanwei knives, I have their Sheffield folder that looks Old School but uses up to date materials: all stainless and skeleton construction with a handy button lock, nice bonestag scales and a very high level of finish.

Mcusta makes some nice elegant/modern folders. I dont think they make any with stag though.....

Thank You to all for your suggestions. The AG Russell may be the one I'm looking for. Have one of the original all SS one hand knives and it is excellent.
