I'm looking for a new general purpose fixed blade knife. Something that would be easy enough to carry, but I don't want a small blade. I was hoping you guys could give me some suggestions?
Thank you.

Welcome to the forum . We need a bit more info. Bark river knives are excellent great steel. Becker knife and tool awesome highly addictive.

Are you bush crafting, chopping, EDC ? Price point ? Steel ?

That depends on what you consider a "small" blade. Let us know what size range you want, and I'm sure the suggestions will come. A price range is helpful, as well, to narrow down the options.

Check out WAS knives in the hosted knife makers forum. Great value in handmade fixed blades. He makes quite a few smaller knives and favors CPM154 stainless steel. You won't be disappointed.

I would reco that you visit SurviveKnives and look at their GSO series of fixed blades.
I have owned a GSO 4.1 and a 3.5 (blade-lengths) and have been very happy.
Choice of excellent blade-steels suited to your use and environment.

Oops, sorry. I did leave some info out. Price range, shooting for 50 or under. I'm thinking blade size of at least 3.5. This would be an EDC. I have no idea what kind of steel.
I appreciate the info!

Consider a BK-14. I have the 11 and it is handy and very carryable, but the handle is just a little un-ergonomic for my taste. The 14 has the same blade but a nicer handle imo.

Ive seen some great offerings from Ka Bar and Ontario for the price line, Case knives have some amazing blades for the price point, also Schrade has been producing some nice working knives. Like Sharp Knives said, Mora is an outstanding value for the knife you get. YMMV

Your desired blade size and budget are pretty limiting - I think checking out Mora's offerings (as mentioned above) will be your best option. If you can pay a bit more, there's the BK 16 - but that's a 4 3/8" blade; or you could do an Enzo Trapper (01) kit for about $80. (The BK 11 and 14, mentioned in an earlier post, are only 3 1/4" blades)

You will have to sharpen it out of the box to get to where you want

Still not clear to me what EDC means to you. Not many places where you can wear a fixed blade on your hip all day. There are some, but not many.

Suggest getting 2 low cost knives to figure out more what you like in terms of blades.

Buck Bucklite Max Large is a decent hollow ground knife. Good if hunting and fishing are part of your EDC.

Mora Companion or Companion HD if working with wood is a part of your EDC.

I do like the looks of the Kabar 14 even though it is smaller than I mentioned. Maybe I should go down to a little over 3 inches. It looks to be a good knife with many people saying good things about it.

That Queen Cutlery Maple looks great too. Hmmm...

Pinnah, I see your point. I may not be be able to use this as an EDC, it may be more when I'm outdoors and at home. Chopping, cutting. Etc. I go fishing a lot and I'm always tromping through the woods. I just don't want something so big it gets in my way.

Sorry for the double post. Using the quick reply but for some reason I'm doing something wrong.

Svord Kiwi General Outdoors is a good budget option. It's a solid workhorse and a nice alternative to the ubiquitous Mora.
