The Protech TR1 looks good, however, I would kind of prefer something a little longer. 3.75" at least. I dont want anything fancy, just an auto with a normal blade. Blade material has to be above AUS8 and 440C. Any suggestions are appreciated.

There's lots of good autos in your price range, but they all seem to be around 3.5" blade length. Microtech Mini SOCOM Elite and UMS, Protech TR1, TR3, and Godson all are around 3.5" blade length. Benchmade makes a few closer to your 3.75" preference (9050 AFO, 9100 Stryker, 4200 AXIS Auto Resistor), but these are going to be a bit more expensive (but still under $200). All of these have 154CM or better steel. Dalton makes a zillion models, so there's surely something that suit your fancy, but probably a bit more expensive too.

BTW, the TR1 is a chisel ground tanto blade, not necessarily the best for general useage. If "normal" is what you're looking for, go with the TR3.

I forgot a good option, a Dynamic Knife Designs (DKD) Destiny. These knives are made by Wayne Clark, of Protech fame. The handground blade is about 3.7" of incredibly sharp ATS-34, and opens harder and faster than any other auto I own. You can find them for about $160.

BTW, if you stop at Bladerunner, let me know what he's got for autos right now. I haven't been there in a while.

That doesnt look too bad, dont really like the blade shape though. I think I've pretty much narrowed it down to a microtech mini socom elite. I'm actually getting the itch for a ritter grip again. Will have to decide between the two. A friend said he stopped at bladerunner a couple days ago, and apparently he's on vacation till the 2nd of August.

Right, I believe he takes a few weeks off every summer to go hunting or something.
