Hello,
Does anyone know where to find original photos and information on the Vietnam era Lagana tomahawk?
Thankyou for your help.

Here is a photo of an early fiberglass Lagana with heavy leather sheath.

Actually, the 1st one's Peter LaGana made were natural-colored hickory handled, and bare metal with no special finish on it... 2nd type was similar to the 'Cold Steel' reproduction Vietnam Tomahawk (OD green all over). These are 1960's era tomahawks.
The newer LaGana models are from around the year 2000... the picture above looks like the earliest model. Then there is the current model, the ATC VTAC. Looks very similar to the picture above, but the handle is a bit different (Googe Images has pictures of this current model). I have another picture showing Peter LaGana in front of a display case (his personal tomahawk collection?), and he had different variations on the original (wooden handles). To the best of my knowledge, this is an accurate representation of the differences. I have pictures and video clips of Peter LaGana, but it would be easiest to email them to you directly.

Glock can you upload the picture of LaGana and his tomahawk collection? I would love to see that.

OK, here you go...

I said earlier: "Actually, the 1st one's Peter LaGana made were natural-colored hickory handled, and bare metal with no special finish on it... 2nd type was similar to the 'Cold Steel' reproduction Vietnam Tomahawk (OD green all over). These are 1960's era tomahawks."

You can see the 1st type in the picture at the top center...
the 2nd style is like the one at the top left...

The picture shows 11 total...

Oh Glock - I can only IMAGINE brother. That picture itself is priceless. LaGana was a great American.

I have, He was ahead of his time for the military. They considered it bad form. Uncivilized, if you will.

Napalm, however, is gentlemanly.

Have you seen any of the videos of him throwing his tomahawk, or using it in a 'mock' fight?

Glock - I have not brother. I would be interested in seeing them though.

Rob - you are right on. Tomahawks are seen as "barbaric, etc" i am guessing, but napalm and AT-4 are a gents weapon??? :jerkit: puh-lease. LaGana was a great American and pioneered a very solemn tool and weapon, still needed and used regularly in the US Army.

Go to: American Tomahawk Company's website, there are half a dozen INTERESTING videos, and many pictures, also.
Let me know if you have any trouble finding it...

hatchetjack,

Good links...

Hard H2O,

Special Forces, Rangers, etc... basically our military has had some version of a tomahawk since almost as far back as the 'Red Coats'... in fact, after our Fronteirsmen used them on them, even the English eventually used them some, too...

Here are 2 pictures...
1st is the 'Cold Steel' reproduction of Peter LaGana's (designed in the 1960's) 'Vietnam Tomahawk' with the wooden handle, and 2nd is the newer 'Vietnam Tactical Tomahawk', also known as the ATC VTAC (the latter is the REAL DEAL, not a reproduction)...
