Comparison pics
is there an advantage to something that thick?

They shipped out last week and I got mine yesterday so I doubt there are many pictures out there yet. The Ranger Signature Series were made mostly for collectors. Justin said that people always told him that his .25" blades were overbuilt. So he really had em' overbuild the SIG series! There were 118 of the RD-6 made and 126 of the Afghan. Most probably won't ever get used. Justin was a Ranger and SF so the RD Series lean more towards entry tool than bush knife. Mine came with a very nice sharp edge . It's a tank but the full flat grind and tall blade height give it a better geometry than you'd think. I'm sure it would baton pretty well, with a .375" spine it looks like a slitting wedge! The S7 tool steel should make it pretty darn tough. It's definitely not a bushcraft or EDC knife!

You could search for those folks who have Custom RD's from Justin himself in S-7. I know he did it as a custom option for some people back before he sold the production model line to Ontario.

I have held a 6 inch one, it has a good feel in the hand, but still too thick for my tastes.

I have a piece of 2 inch round stock that I could polish up the sides on, and give a demo of cutting ability. All kidding aside, that is one heck of a chopper there!
