That cannot be taken easily out of house if broken in to also should be small enough to unobtrusive in bedroom. I was thinking of a metal plate bolted together with security bolts. under my bed and mounting something to that so it would be to cumbersome to steal.(IE go through doors.

They make some recessed ones you can mount in the wall and cover with a picture or the box ones you can mount to the underside of the bed or wherever. Unless you get a full size safe it will only detour them from stealing it if they don't have enough time. Best bet is to hide it in a good spot and bolt it down very well. there are biometric, electric keypad and mechanical keypad versions. I use a mechanical keypad that isn't likely to fail and it's bolted to my bed frame with large bolts and 1/8" steel plates. keypad faced down but i know the keys in the dark with one hand so it works.

V-line is the only way to go. They're mechanical (button combo not keyed), so no batteries or electrical circuit to rely on when it counts.

This is one of the better safes on the market. It uses a simplex lock and has a gas strut on top door. The safe weighs 24 pounds. No pistol safe, alone, is going to be very theft resistant but at 24# you've probably got a good chance to catch the guy carrying it! Seriously though, it is pre-drilled for mounting/bolting down.
